HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2001-201 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-201 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 58-99 BY REDUCING THE MEMBERSHIP ON THE PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS ADVISORY BOARD FROM FIFTEEN (15) TO TEN (10) MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR SIX (6) MEMBERS TO CONSTITUTE A QUORUM TO HOLD MEETINGS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Article 3, Part XI of the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, authorizes the City Commission to appoint advisory boards by resolution; and WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Advisory Board exists within the City, with membership consisting of citizens serving on a volunteer basis; and WHEREAS, attendance at the regularly scheduled meetings of the Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Advisory Board has decreased and, on many occasions, a quorum cannot be met and business cannot be conducted for each of them; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to reduce the number of members on the Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Advisory Board from fifteen (15) to ten (10) and to amend the By-Laws for the Board to require six (6) members for a quorum. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, reduces the membership from fifteen (15) to ten (10) on the Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Advisory Board. Section 2. That the members of such board shall not exceed ten (10) in number, each of whom shall be a registered voter within the City of Dania Beach and each of whom shall have been a resident of the City of Dania Beach for a minimum of six (6) months prior to any such appointment. Section 3. That the Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Advisory Board shall be amended to include six (6) as the number of required members to secure a quorum and hold meetings of the Board. • PAGE 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-201 >� Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict are repealed to the extent of any such conflict with this resolution. Section 5. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED ON 23d DAY OF OCTOBER, 2001.
