PSPW01-08, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING THAT ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), authorizes the city manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the city government in amounts in excess of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the city commission and if such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last twelve (12) months by other governmental agencies such as the Federal Government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the city manager has determined that it is necessary to purchase two (2) 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe utility vehicles in an amount not to exceed $21,498.00 per vehicle, for use by the City of Dania Beach Fire-Rescue Department; and WHEREAS, the city manager has determined that such purchase can be made at the least cost to the city by purchasing said vehicles from Maroone Chevrolet, 8600 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024, under City of Pembroke Pines Bid No. PSPW01-08, a copy of which is attached hereto. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-210 Section 1. That the city manager is hereby authorized to pay an amount not to exceed the sum of $21,498.00 per vehicle from the fire-rescue department budget, to Maroone Chevrolet, 8600 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024, for the purchase of two (2) 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe utility vehicles, under City of Pembroke Pines Bid No. PSPW01-08, a copy of which is attached hereto. Section 2. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 3. Even though we had looked into the purchase of this type of vehicle prior to seeking approval to purchase the Crown Victorias, the best price we could find under the Sheriffs' state bid was over $27,000.00. Subsequent to the October 30th meeting, we were informed that the City of Pembroke Pines was in the process of purchasing several Chevrolet Tahoes (equipped with a police package) at a price of $21,498.00 per vehicle or $265.00 less than the price quoted for the Ford Crown Victorias. ® Accordingly, I am attaching hereto the following: • Bid Analysis — PSPW 01-08, together with specifications for a "Category M" vehicle; and • Form of resolution authorizing purchase. Maroone Chevrolet has agreed to allow the City of Dania Beach to participate in the Pembroke Pines bid. If the foregoing meets with your approval, it will be appreciated if you will please place a this item on the agenda for the next regular city commission meeting to be held on November 13, 2001. The purchase of these vehicles will supersede the purchase of the Ford Crown Victorias as previously approved. If you need anything further, please let me know.
