HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2000-032 RESOLUTION NO. 2000 -032 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMENDING THE HILTON FORT LAUDERDALE AIRPORT HOTEL FOR PROVIDING LODGING DURING THE PERIOD IN WHICH FIRE-RESCUE STATION 93 WAS UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, City of Dania Beach Fire-Rescue Station 93 was in need of renovations; and WHEREAS, said renovations were extensive, necessitating the temporary relocation of personnel assigned to said station; and WHEREAS, Fire-Rescue Station 1 was only able to accommodate personnel assigned to Engine 93 and not those scheduled to man Rescue 93; and WHEREAS, the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel offered to provide complimentary lodging for the crew of Rescue 93 for a period of seven (7) days during the renovation process even going to the extent of reserving a room which would allow immediate access to their transport vehicle enabling them to make a timely response to rescue calls; and WHEREAS, through the efforts of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel staff, emergency medical services in the Station 93 area continued uninterrupted, assuring that the citizens of said area received the same high quality of service and timely response they can always expect from the City of Dania Beach Fire-Rescue Department; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach wishes to formally recognize and thank the management and staff of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel for being a "good neighbor" in accommodating the crew of Rescue 93. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. In formal recognition of the management and staff of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel reaching out a hand to help their neighbor, Dania Beach Fire-Rescue Station 93, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach hereby commends and expresses its gratitude to the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel staff, especially for their appreciation of the importance of maintaining a neighborhood Fire-Rescue facility, and for making it possible for Station 93 personnel to carry out their mission without delay or interruption during the renovation period. Section 2. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED this 13th day ,f.
