HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2000-163 RESOLUTION NO. 2000-163 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A SCHEDULE OF PERMIT FEES FOR CONSTRUCTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 166.222, FLORIDA STATUTES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That Section 166.222, Florida Statutes, entitled "Building Code Inspection Fees," provides that the governing body of a municipality may provide a schedule of reasonable inspection fees in order to defray the costs of inspection and enforcement of its building code. Section 2. That certain Schedule of Permit Fees for construction, in substantial form as Exhibit "A", attached, is approved. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. Should the work being performed under an issued permit require additional inspections, each inspection shall be paid for at the time that the inspection is requested. If a Certificate of Occupancy is to be issued for the project, the amount due for additional inspections shall be collected prior to the issuance of the C of O. A copy of the contract shall be provided to the Building Division for this purpose. A plan review fee of$300.00 will be collected at the time of application for permit, or submission of plans for pre-review, for new construction or additions. This amount will be credited against the cost of the permit fee at the time that the permit is issued. Zoning code text amendment ................................................$ 165.00 • • Memmmdum z To: Michael Smith, City Manager From: Ken Koch,Building Official Date: 09/28/00 Re: Revised Rate Schedule At its meeting on September 26, 2000, the City Commission expressed concerns that if the fees for smaller projects commonly undertaken by homeowners were too high,that the work would be done without having first obtained a permit. I have changed certain fees on the proposed rate schedule to reflect these concerns. I recommend that these certain fees are lowered from the proposed rate of (in most cases)$75.00 to$50.00,which is still raised from our current minimum of $35.00. This keeps these newly-revised rates in line with other proposed minimum fees(such as administrative fees)of$50.00. • My proposed changes are: Under Structural: Section 7, Paving is broken into 2 areas: Commercial, Up to 5,000 square feet is $150.00 and each additional 5,000 square feet is an additional $75.00 Residential is a flat rate of$50.00 Section 8, Fences, changed to $50.00 Section 9, Walls, changed to $150.00 Section 10, Awnings and Shutters, changed to $100.00 Section 11, Doors, Windows, and Siding ,changed to $50.00 From"Signs" to "Spa,..." is renumbered (scriveners error) New Section 12, Signs, "Pole" is changed to "Monument" New Section 15, Shed, changed to $50.00 September 28, 2000 Under Electrical: Section 15, Spa, Jacuzzi, Hot Tub, changed to $50.00 Under Plumbing: Section 5, Repairs, Fixture Replacement (INCLUDES WATER HEATERS!), changed to $50.00 Sectionl2, Spa, Hot Tub, Jacuzzi, changed to $50.00 Section 16, Lawn Sprinkler, changed to $50.00 Section 18, Rain Water, Gutters, Etc., changed to $50.00 These are all of the items that would most commonly affect the public residential homeowners. 2 AGENDA REQUEST FORM 106 CITY OF DANIA BEACH AGENDA ITEM NO. 1.
