WORKSHOP MEETING
DANIA CITY COMMISSION
AUGUST 29, 1975
1. Present:
Mayor: Robert Duncanson
Vice Mayor: John Bertino
Commissioners: Frank Adler
Robert Donly
John Kay
City Manager: John Kooser
Police Chief: Fred Willis
Fire Chief: John Lassiter
Sanitation Contractor: Thomas Sette
2. This workshop meeting was called for the purpose of hearing the
City Manager's proposals on the Fiscal Year 1975-6 budget,
followed by further discussion by the commission.
Mr. Kooser had broken these items down according to Department;
Current Budget; Proposed Reduction; and Final End Cost. Because
of the onset of the holiday weekend however, there was not enough
time to go over all the departments. Most of the time was taken
on discussion of the proposed Pension Plan. Mr. Kooser proposed
implementation of the plan be delayed for the first 3 quarters of
the budget year in other words the first 9 months. It was later
suggested to cut that to 6 months. Nothing definite was decided
and these matters will be left to Tuesday,Sept. 2 meeting.
3. Mr. Kooser made the commission aware of the Title II contract
extending 4 of the 7 Manpower people through June, 1976 on the
' condition that the City absorb the other 3 as of October 1. He
is going to look into the possibility of having the Manpower Council
delete this.
4. A gentleman from the program on aging, spoke to the commission asking
them for a donation for Dania's elderly. The mayor felt this should
be taken out of the contingency fund of the upcoming budget.of 1975-6.
5. Mayor Duncanson noted that the plaque for Mullikin Park was at City
Hall and needed to be mounted.
