HomeMy WebLinkAbout30774 - MINUTES - City Commission MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING DANIA CITY COMMISSION JULY 28, 1975 Present: Mayor: Robert Duncanson Vice Mayor: John Bettina Commissioner: John Kay City Manager: Woodward Hampton Building Inspector: Thomas Littrelf Zoning Consultant: Luther Sparkman Due to the anticipated length of time it will take to review the City Manager applications, the Commission decided to discuss the items on the agenda that relate to Mr. Littrell and Mr. Sparkman first. This item is #2 on the agenda. Commissioner Kay Led the Commission in a lengthy discussion on the review of the zoning layout for future land use. As the map now reacts, the City will be zoned in strips. Building Inspector Littrell requested that he be allowed to redo the map and work on a revision of Chapter 33 of the Zoning Ordinance. The Commission gave their approval to Mr. Littrell. Tile Commission also discussed the scheduling of public hearings for rezoning. It was generally agreed that the best schedule would be to have the hearing before the Planning and Zoning Board, and then have the first reading before the Commission _ at the following Commission meeting, which would be the second Commission meeting of the month. No action would be taken at the following Commission meeting (the first meeting of the next month) , and then the second reading and public hearing would be at the next Commission meeting, the second meeting of the month, thus allowing time to advertise the public hearing. The total elapsed time would be approximately 1'k months. 3. This item is #4 on the agenda. The Commissioners discussed different ideas they have for the expansion of City Hall, Building Inspector Littrell presented his concept of how it should be done, based on input from the City Hall employees and 'O consultation with an architect. The Commission decided to put the request for approval on the next regular meeting agenda, since no real conclusion can be reached until they review the budget for next year to see if the funds are available. t,. This item is #3 on the agenda. The Commissioners reviewed their copies of the proposed budget for 1975-76. The City Manager has taken the liberty of drafting a schedule for the Commissioners to follow so that the budget can be approved and adopted by September 1 for presentation to the County Commission on September 2. Due to the length of this meeting already, the Commission decided to have a work- shop on July 30 to discuss the budget after the Commissioners have had a chance to review it. 5. This is item Ill on the agenda. Mayor Duncanson requested that a special meeting he called on July 30 at 7:30 P.M. for discussion and possible appointment of an interim acting City Manager. He also requested a meeting of all department heads on the evening of August L. The Commission then went on to review the applications for City Manager. The field of applicants that they would like to interview was narrowed down to ten, and it was agreed that the interviews will be set up for the following Friday evening and all day Saturday.
