The purpose of this meeting was to accept the resignation of City Manager
Hampton and to advertise for a new City Manager. Mayor Duncanson expressed
his feelings concerning the resignation of Mr. Hampton, but stated that he
realizes that what might be the City's loss would be Mr. Hampton's gain. Mr.
Hampton has agreed to take the position of City Manager of Pembroke Pines
effective August 1, 1975. Reluctantly, Mayor Duncanson accepted City Manager
Hampton' s letter of resignation. On a motion by Commissioner Adler, seconded
by Vice Mayor Bertino, the Commission accepted Mr. Hampton's resignation with
sincere regret.
The Commission then discussed how they would like to state the advertisement
for a new City Manager. It was decided to advertise in all the local newspapers,
` and if possible in a nationwide publication, time allowing. The salary range
'd. will be $18,500 to $20,000 depending on experience. Mr. Hampton suggested this
salary with the idea that a new City Manager should "earn his spurs" before a
_+ higher salary is granted. The applicants must have at least three years
experience in Public Administration. There will be no cut-off date on applica-
tions until the position is filled. Mr. Hampton will see to it that the
adver-tisement is carried out.
On :Notion by Commissioner Adler, seconded by Vice Mayor Bertino, this meeting
was adjourned.
