1. Present: Mayor: Robert Duncanson
-' Vice Mayor: John Bertino 3
Commissioners: Robert Donly
"e John Kay f ;
City Attorney: Jack Milbery .
' i City Manager: Woodward Hampton ,?
Assistant to
City Manager: Charles McNally
s 2. There was to be a discussion on possible water and sewer Ordinance modifications
at this time. Mr. McNally took the floor and recommended an increase in the water
rates to a minimum of $2.25 per month for the first 2000 gallons - a raise of
12L% - and raise the rate from 504' to 60C per 1000 gallons for gallons in excess
® of 2000. Even with this increase, Mr. McNally says that Dania will still have one
c, of the lowest rates in the State. Mr. McNally stated that this increase is nec-
essary due to the rising costs of chemicals, power, etc. . Also a rate increase is
inevitable according to the present economic situation, and it is better to raise
the rates gradually than have the City be faced with a big increase all at once
as is the case in a near-by city, so states Mayor Duncanson.
s
e Mr. McNally's proposal raised many questions as to the current standing of the
water budget, and also preparedness for future planning. Mayor Duncanson stated
that he was not aware that this discussion was going to involve figures, and he
was therefore not prepared. The other members of the Commission agreed, and
decided to put this item on the April 21 agenda.
® As there were committee meetings scheduled for this night, this meeting was then
adjourned.
