Present: Mayor: Ted Kay Vice Mayor: Robert Duncanson Commissioners: Frank Adler William Jackson John Kay City Manager: Woodward M. Hampton City Clerk: Wanda Mullikin City Attorney: Clarke Walden 2. Gd Lundquist, Councilman of Pembroke Pines discussed at length the newspaper ,alvage program that Pembroke Pines has instituted. It was pointed out that if successfully operated that there are monies to be made from this salvage, in addition to the saving of our timber resources used in the manufacturing of paper. Each Commiss- ioner agreed that the program had positive benefits, but that they would like for the City Manager to study the problems involved and report back to the Commission. 3. The City Manager recommended that the Commission authorize a four- ten hour day work schedule in an effort to save on electricity. After much discussion, Commission Adler made a motion to approve this schedule, Commissioner Duncanson seconded, but the motion failed by a 3-2 vote. Commissioners Jackson and Kay and Mayor Kay voted no. The three voting no pointed out that in their opinion there would be no saving of energy. 4. The Commission discussed the practical result of restricting neon lights and display lights at night in the City. The Commission adoptod a proclamation asking the businesses in the City to turn their neon lights and display lights out at their closing hour, which could be as late as 2:00 A.M. for certain businesses. The Commission indicated that if the energy crisis continues and that businesses do not cooperate, that an ordinance will be adopted at a lacer date to regulate this use. The Commission authorized the City Manager to have Florida Power 8 Light turn off every other lamp on the whiteway lighting for Dania Beach Boulevard and U.S. I . 5. The City Manager was asked to determine the reason why Mr. Kerley, Architect, was not present to discuss the Civic Center, and to schedule a later meeting with him to discuss finalization of an agreement if his terms and schedule of design are satisfactory to the City. 6. 1ho City Commission asked the Manager to determine if a "No Left Turn" sign could be placed at Eller Road and Federal Highway to prevent trucks from turning south at this point. The City Manager stated he would do so and if feasible have the sign installed. In addition, he would ask the County to consider making Griffin Road a "No Truck" route. (:::W(F- k4 !� Ted L.
