REGULAR MEETING
DANIA CITY COMMISSION
APRIL 17, 1972
1. Invocation by City Attorney, Clarke Walden.
2. Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Roll Call

Commissioner Kelly made a motion to excuse Mr. Salvino's absence
because of illness. Commissioner Kay seconded. There were four ayes.
4. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to approve the minutes of the
meeting of April 3, 1972. Commissioner Kay seconded. There were
four ayes.
5. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to approve the bills as paid
for [-larch, 1972. Commissioner Kay seconded. There were four ayes.
6. Pavilion. Commissioner Kay made a motion to table the third
reading of the plat for the Pavilion until the next Commission
meeting of May 8, 1972. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There
were four ayes.
7. Sage Corp. Commissioner Kay made a motion to table the third
reading of the Sage Corporation to rezone from R-Apt to B-2 the
proposed Shopping Center until the next Commission meeting of
May 8, 1972. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There were four ayes.
8. Mr. Walden prepared an updated draft of the proposed ordinance
on the new R-3 zoning as discussed at the joint meeting of
Commissioners and Planning and Zoning Board. The draft was
circulated and Mr. Walden asked the Commission to authorize
a public hearing for May 15th and in the meantime he would send
copies to the Zoning Board for their meeting on May 9.This was
agreed upon by the Commission.
9. Reading of the Planning and Zoning Board's meeting of April 11, 1972.
B. J. Florian. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to tentatively
approve the preliminary plat of the new subdivision known as
Florian Isle 4th Section.
Mr. Fred Bailey. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to authorize
a public hearing for rezoning of a five acre tract with legal
description of the W� of the NWk of the NW'k of the SW'k of Sec.
35-50-42, before the Planning and Zoning Board on May 9th at
7:45 P. M. and the Commission on May 15th at 8:15 P. M. Commissioner
Kay seconded. There were four ayes.
10. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to approve the ordinance of
Water Rates and Meter Charges Schedule on all three readings.
Commissioner Kay seconded. There were four,ayes.

11. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to authorize on emergency
a broom attachment for street cleaning for approximately $1,200.00.
Commissioner Kay seconded. There were four ayes.

G 12. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to authorize Mr. Clay to send
a letter to all water users outside the City limits that they
will be billed according to the rates Hollywoodcharging

as of April 1, 1972. Commissioner Waiters seconded.

Im"Lz 13. The Department of Transportation presented a resolution in the
"w4- form of an agreement that they will landscape the median on Dania

; ® Beach Boulevard all the way out to the beach if the City will enter
into an agreement to irrigate and maintain the median, this also
involves water lines. Commissioner Kay made a motion to adopt
. the resolution and authorize to sign the agreement. Commissioner

IN- ® 14. Bids Fire Truck. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to close the
bids. Commissioner Kay seconded. Commissioner Kay made a motion
to open the bids. Commissioner Kelly seconded. There were four ayes.

j Commissioner Kelly made a motion to turn the bids over to the City
Manager and Fire Chief for tabulation and recommendation. Commissioner
�:. Kay seconded. There were four ayes.
`Y.=' 15. Lee Dolan. Commissioner Kay made a motion to grant the application
O of Lee Dolan for a variance permit to construct a pool with screen
enclosure with a 18? setback for water's edge at the rear of his
property, on the receipt of a letter to Mr. Hampton, from his
neighbor on the West of his property. This neighbor previously
objected to this variance. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There
were four ayes.

16. Bids for the sewer surge tank. Commissioner Kelly made a motion
:r to close the bids. Commissioner Kay seconded. There were four ayes.
Commissioner Kay made a motion that the bids be opened. Commissioner
Kelly seconded. There were four• ayes.

Commissioner Kelly made a motion to turn the bids over to the
O City Manager and Engineer for tabulation and recommendation.
Commissioner Kay seconded. There were four ayes.
17. The Commission was advised of Mr. Hampton and Mr. Farinars
intended trip to Jacksonville concerning funds for a new well.
® 18. Public Hearing 8:45 P. M. Maxwell and Caroline Marks. Abandonment
and vacation of a part of S. E. 2nd Avenue between S. E. Park Street
and S. E. First Street. Commissioner Kelly moved that this be
passed. Commissioner Kay seconded. There were four ayes.
19. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to authorize the City Attorney
O to draw up an ordinance to require land owners to mow their lots
when the grass becomes overgrown. Commissioner Kay seconded.
There were four ayes.
