REGULAR MEETING
DANIA CITY COMMISSION
AUGUST 16, 1971
1. Invocation by City Manager, Woodward Hampton.
2. Pledge of allegiance to the flag.
3. Roll Call. Present Mayor-Commissioner William E. Jackson

4. Louis Marrone. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to pass on second
reading the ordinance approving the plat plan for a new subdivision
located east of N. E. 5th Court, west of the Royal Palm Marina, north
of N. E. 3rd Street and south of the Dania Cut-Off Canal. Commissioner
Salvino seconded. There were four ayes.
5. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to approve the minutes of the
August 2nd meeting. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There were four ayes.
6. Fire Equipment. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to accept the
City Manager's recommendation to pay the $2,528.00 for fire equipment.
Commissioner Kelly seconded. There were four ayes.
7. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to pass on third reading the ordinance
rezoning certain lands located generally west of Phippen Road and between
S. W. 3rd Street and Stirling Road to R-1 zoning. Commissioner Salvino
seconded. There were four ayes.
8. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to approve the bills for July, 1971.
Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were four ayes.
9. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to approve the resolution adopting
the 1971-72 budget, on the condition that the pay adjustment for the
City Manager, City Clerk and the City Attorney not be put into effect
until further authorization of the Commission. Commissioner Waiters
seconded. There were four ayes.
`Y 10. 8 :15 P. M. Public Hearing. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to pass
on first reading an ordinance rezoning land from the Dania Cut-Off
Canal on the south to the northern limits of the City of Dania.
Commissioner Kelly seconded. There were four ayes.
11. Christmas Decorations. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to approve
the purchasing of Christmas Decorations for the City. Commissioner
Waiters seconded. There were four ayes.
12. Dania Library. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to pay $2,000.00
toward the Dania Library. This money was already appropriated in this
budget. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There were four ayes.
13. Planning and Zoning Board's Minutes. Commissioner Salvino made a
motion to set a date of September 20th at 8:15 P. M. for a public
hearing before the City Commission on the recommendation of the
Planning and Zoning Board to rezone from B-2 to R-1 Lots 1 through 11,
Block 1 College Homesites and also Lots 1 and 2 and Lots 19 and 20
in Block 2, College Homesites. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There
were four ayes.

+' 1�• Antique Lights. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to approve the
it ® replacing of three antique lights that have been knocked down on
Federal Highway. Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were four ayes.
15. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to adopt the resolution to cooper-
ate with Broward County Officials in developing a water and waste
water plan for South Broward.were four ayes. Commissioner Kelly seconded. There

x 16. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to adopt the resolution providing
towing and wrecker services to the City. Commissioner Kelly seconded. x ,

17. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to adopt a resolution requesting
the Department of Transportation to provide lighting for part of 'q
Sheridan Street between U.S. 1 and State Road A-1-A. Commissioner u
Salvino seconded. There were four ayes.
18. Community Action Group. Mr. Jimmy Peterman, representative requested '
that one budget be set for both parks instead of two separate budgets 7K5f
' • and that the balance, if any, be allocated to Westside Park. Also
present concerning Westside were Charlie Thomas and Ruth Carter.
The meeting adjourned.
