Jackson Vice Mayor Ted Kay ® Commissioners Robert Kelly Frank Salvino Boisy Waiters City Manager Woodward M. Hampton City Clerk E. R. Clay City Attorney Clarke Walden ® Water Agreement with Hollywood. Commissioner Kay made a motion that because of the emergency water situation, the City Manager be authorized to negotiate with the City of Hollywood as to whatever agreement can be reached so that the City of Dania will be insured of a source of water from the City of Hollywood, and ® when agreement is reached with the City of Hollywood to make the tie-in, the City Manager be authorized to negotiate with H E H Crane Company to lay this line at a cost not to exceed $11,000.00. This is authorized to be done as an emergency without the necessity of taking bids. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There were five ayes. ® Saturday Sprinkling. Commissioner Kelly brought up the subject of Saturday sprinkling. He asked that we get everything down in writing and send copies to the police department to post and to the news media. The City Manager said he would get a written statement out in the morning concerning the matter. The time allowed for sprinkling to be from 12:01 A. M. Saturday until 12:00 midnight Saturday. Resolution Chief Baxter. Commissioner Kelly said he had had the City Attorney draw a resolution and asked that it be read to the Commission. Commissioner Kelly then made a motion to accept the resolution relieving Chief Baxter of his duties as Chief of the Police Department as of June 3, 1971, with two weeks severance pay ® and any vacation pay he 'Vas"coming to him. Commissioner Waiters seconded. Much discussion followed. Commissioner Kay said he wanted his statement recorded with his vote. Commissioner Kay's statement was to the effect that this was a surprise and whether the dismissal was proper or not, he disagreed with the manner in which it was brought up and without the chief present. The vote ® went as follows: Commissioner Kelly yes Commissioner Kay no Commissioner Salvino yes Commissioner Waiters yes Mayor Jackson no a Commissioner Kelly made a motion to appoint Detective Cecere as acting chief until the next regular meeting on June 7, 1971. Commissioner Waiters seconded. The vote went as follows: Commissioner Kelly yes Commissioner Kay yes Commissioner Salvino yes Commissioner Waiters yes Mayor Jackson no The City Manager was asked to advertise for applications for Chief of Police.
