4. Approval of minutes. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to
accept the minutes of the regular Commission meeting of May 3rd.
Commissioner Kay seconded. There were five ayes.
5. Approval of bills. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to hold
the approval of the bills until the next meeting since all of
the Commissioners had not received copies of the bills.
Commissioner Kelly seconded. There were five ayes.
6. Wayside Inn. Commissioner Kay made a motion to pass on second
reading a transfer of a 4 COP license from Wayside Inn to Vetmur,
Inc. Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
7. New England Oyster House of Dania, Inc. Commissioner Kay made
a motion to pass on second reading a transfer of name from New
England Lobster House to New England Oyster House of Dania, Inc.
Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
8. Reading of the minutes from the Planning and Zoning Board meeting
of May llth. On Item #4 Commissioner Kay made a motion to grant
Finnegan & Suess a public hearing before the Commission on June 7th,
at B:15 P. M. Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
On Item # 5 Commissioner Kelly made a motion to accept the recommend-
ation of the Zoning Board and deny the petition of Josef Sagribellni
y for a variance permit. Commissioner Kay seconded. There were five
ayes.
Item #7, Commissioner Salvino made a motion to grant a public
hearing before the City Commission on June 21st at 8 :15 P. M. to
petitioners asking for a rezoning to B-3 the entire piece of
property, the area lying East of North Federal Highway-North of
Tract 1 of the Wyldewood Subdivision 21-4-South of Taylor Road
and west of the northernly extension of the east line of the
foresaid Tract 1 to Taylor Road. Commissioner Kay seconded. There
were five ayes.
Item #8, Commissioner Salvino made a motion to grant Herald Enterprises
a public hearing before the Commission of June 21st at 8: 30 P. M. ,
on their petition to rezone from R-2 to R-3 the triangular shaped
lot at the corner of Dixie Highway and S. W. llth Street. Commissioner
Waiters seconded. There were five ayes.
Item #9, Commissioner Kelly made a motion to accept the Zoning
Board's recommendation to grant a variance permit to Paul A. Spohn
to construct a pool with a setback of 15' from the water's edge of
the canal at the rear of his property at 1425 N. W. 8th Street.
Commissioner Waiters seconded. There were five ayes..

9. 8 :30 P. M. Public Hearing. Doctor Johnson withdrew his petition
® for a variance permit.
10. 8 : 30 P. M. Public Hearing. Robert Graf, Mark Zenobia and Associates.
Commissioner Kay made a motion to pass on first reading the ordinance
to rezone to R-Apartments the NWk of the NE4 of the SE4 of 3-51 42,
with the conditions set forth by the City Manager to be followed by
® the developer. Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
11. Commissioner Kay made a motion to accept the recommendation of the
City Manager to have one additional man per shift in the Police
Department for the remainder of the budget year, not to exceed
$7,972. 16. Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
® 12. 8 :50 P. M. Public Hearing. Victoria Builders Corp. Commissioner
Kelly made a motion to table the petition to rezone from R-2 to
R-3, Lots 1 through 4, Block 1, Victoria Villas until the City
Attorney does some research and reports back to the Commission at
the next meeting of June 7th. Commissioner Kay seconded. There
• were five ayes. The report to tell whether or not Mr. Scalzo would
be permitted to build apartments on Lots 1-4, Block 1 in conformance
with provisions of the ordinance of the City concerning transitional
uses.
Commissioner Kay made a motion to accept the recommendation of the
Planning and Zoning Board to deny this petition to rezone from R-1
® to R-2, Block 2, Victoria Villas. Commissioner Kelly seconded.
There were five ayes.
13. Commissioner Kay made a motion to accept the City Manager's
recommendation to have the City Attorney draw up a resolution
pertaining to the charging of 50¢ for everyone, for the use of our
boat ramp. Dania residents are now exempt from this charge.
Commissioner Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
City Attorney's Report
14. Commissioner Waiters made a motion to confirm the Resolution on
County Beach Improvements, since the resolution had already been
passed. Commissioner Kelly seconded. There were five ayes.
15. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to accept the Resolution on Turning
Voters Books over to the County. Commissioner Salvino seconded.
There were five ayes.
16. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to adopt the Resolution authorizing
the removal of deteriorated houses on Lots 10 and 11, Block 9,
Town of Dania at 118 and 122 N. W. 3rd Avenue. Commissioner Kay
seconded. There were five ayes.
A 17. Commissioner Kay made a motion to pass the amendment to the water
ordinance changing turn-on fee from $1. 00 to $3.00. Commissioner
Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
18. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to adopt on all three readings,
the Ordinance on water meters-not to enclose, cover or deface.
Commissioner Kay seconded. There were five ayes.
19. Commissioner Kay made a motion to pass the Peoples Gas 3% Franchise
Ordinance effective June 1, 1971, on all three readings. Commissioner
Salvino seconded. There were five ayes.
20. Commissioner Kay made a motion to pass Mr. Baker's War on Trash
agreement with the two corrections. Commissioner Waiters seconded.
There were five ayes.
21. Commissioner Salvino made a motion to pass on three readings the
Emergency Ordinance stating penalty for use of water in violation
® of City's ban on sprinkling, car washing and so forth, effective
immediately. Commissioner Kay seconded. There were five ayes.

22. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to send a resolution to the
County Commission requesting that they help us in efforts of
notifying other cities and municipalities to do what they can
in conserving water. Commissioner Waiters seconded. There
were five ayes.
23. Commissioner Kelly made a motion to pass on second and third
readings the Tax exemption for Churches Ordinance. Commissioner
Kay seconded. There were five ayes. This ordinance was passed
on first reading on January 4, 1971, but was left off of the
subsequent agenda and not passed on second and third reading.
24. Commissioner Salvino made a motion for the City Manager to
write to the County Commission requesting the opening of the
old Dixie Highway on North Federal near the Airport to relieve
the traffic on Federal Highway. Commissioner Kay seconded.
There were five ayes.
25. Commissioner Kay brought up the matter of holding regular meetings
between the Commission and Department Heads, but it was decided
that they could meet on an individual basis with the City Manager.
26. Commissioner Waiters mentioned again that we would like to see the
City look into the possibility of obtaining matching funds to
build a mini-park in the Southwest area where there are no parks.
The Commission said for him to get together with the City Manager
on this matter.
The meeting was adjourned.
