SPECIAL MEETING OF THE DANIA CITY COMMISSION HELD ON JULY 13, 1970, IN THE DANIA

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND INVOCATION

® 1. STREET PAVING - The Mayor, Mr. Houston, brought up the subject of the streets
to be resurfaced.
After discussion, a Motion was made by Commissioner Waiters that the City Manager,
Mr. Hampton, write a letter of agreement awarding the contract to the County
and authorizing the work to be done for the amount of $6.10 per ton and the
® tonnage approximately 1,794 tons. Seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Roll was
called and the Vote was four (4) to zero (0).
2. LIBRARY FUND
After discussion, Commissioner Kelly made a Motion that the $2,000. in the
4/ Budget for the Library be turned over to the Library Fund. Seconded by
Commissioner Jackson. Roll was called and the Vote was four (4) to zero (0).
3. THE SCENE - CARL ZENOBIA - REGARDING SIDEWALKS
Mr. Carl Zenobia approached the Commission and stated that he had talked to
® Mr. Du Bow, Mrs. Valentine's Attorney, and that Mr. DuBow said Mrs. Valentine
was not willing to Deed the four (4) feet to the City. Mr. Zenobia then
requested the return of his Bond - This was denied until he get the sidewalk
in.
4. J. J. KAY - DISCUSSION ON OPEN BILL REGARDING SEWER WORK.
After a lengthy discussion, a Motion was made by Commissioner Kelly that
Mr. Kay was supposed to refund the $192. that the City paid him for the
installation of the sewer. Seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Roll was
called and the Vote was four (4) to zero (0).
• 5. P.ECIPROCITY
Commissioner Kelly brought up the subject of reciprocity on contractors
licenses with the County Board, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood. After a
lengthy discussion it was decided that Mr. Walker, Building Inspector,
would look into this further.
6. BROWARD SEPTIC TANK
After a short discussion, the Mayor, Mr. Houston, asked Mr. Hampton, City
Manager to check into this.
7. DUMPING - LOT ON NORTH FEDERAL HIGHWAY
It was decided that Mr. Walker, Building Inspector, should try to locate the
owners and have them clean it up.

8. INTERVIEWING POTENTIAL PLANNERS
(1) Post, Buckley, Sch & Jernigan, Inc. Mr. Walter Raibel, Business
Manager, spoke to thuh e Commission giving them a thumbnail sketch of
the capabilities of the aforementioned firm which is strictly in the
field of civil engineers ie. water, sewer, grading, paving, drainage,
y sidewalks and tennis courts. This firm is 10� years old with its main
office in Hialeah, branch offices in Hollywood and Isle of Marata and
a new office to be opened in South Dade. During his address to the
Commission, Mr. Raibel commented that his firm also had experience in
the financial planning of water and sewer development and projection.

(2) Stutsman, Kennelly, Ngh and Associates. Mr. Paul Stutzman, Attorney
and Engineer, Senio rt r Paner in the rirm, spoke to the Commission giving
them a thumbnail sketch of the firms 'capabilities ie. that they are
1 strictly planners not attorneys or engineers. Mr. Stutsman went into
detail on the 701 Assisted Plan in which the* Federal Government pays
2/3 of the costs and the City pays 1/3; and also that the State sets
® the priority of the Cities applying in accordance with the apparent
f, pressing necessity and discussed all possibilities with the Commission.
(3) VTN, INC. , FLORIDA. Robert W. Bentley, Director of Planning, and Kamal
a Al-Imam presented to the Commission a brochure on the capabilities of
the company ie. planners, surveyors and engineers. After the presentation
of a brief thumbnail sketch of the firm's capabilities, the gentlemen
answered the questions of the Commission.

4 After each interview it was decided that the Commission would get in touch
with the firm if there were any further to be discussed at a later date.
