M. _ PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND INVOCATION 01,L CALL PRESENT Mayor Commissioner Robert E. Houston Vice-Mayor Commissioner Joseph Thornton Commissioner William Jackson City Manager Woodward M. Hampton City Attorney Clarke Walden Building Inspector H. Walker EXCUSED Commissioner Robert Kelly Police Chief Edward Baxter ABSENT Commissioner Boisy Waiters 1. BIDS ON CITY HALL. A Motion was made by Commissioner Thornton that they go ahead with the recommendation of the City Architect to proceed with the Project on combined bid and award the Contract to John B. Mayer of Ft. Lauderdale, in the amount of $88,637.00. Seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Roll was called and the Vote was three (3) to zero (0). 2. CITY HALL ROOF. The Mayor, Mr. Houston, brought up the subject of the leaks in the rear of the existing City Hall building; and that he would ` like to see the Architect get bids on a new roof for City Hall and get ® the roof on. After discussion, a Motion was made by Commissioner Thornton that the City Architect be authorized to draw up specifications for the roof on the existing building specifying that this was an emergency and also be authorized to accept bids which include a completion date. Seconded by ® Commissioner Jackson. Roll was called and the Vote was three (3) to zero (0). 3. BIDS ON SEWER EXTENTION. Hosey Bros. Low Bidder - Contract B - 610 Linear Feet - 6,138. 00. A. Sewer Extention down Alley between South East 3 Place and South East 4 Street - Lots a Mr. Daniels was intending to buy. After considerable discussion, it was decided that as Mr. Daniels had not gone through with the purchase of the lots that this be tables until Mr. Daniels proceeded further. ® B. Sewer Extention - Alley between South East 3 Terrace and South East 3 Place. Mr. Lito signed the Contract so there is no delay. After further discussion, Commissioner Thornton made a Motion that Phase B be awarded to Hosey at a bid of $6,138.00 and Phase A be rejected. Seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Roll was called and the Vote was Three (3) to zero (0). 4. SEWER DISCUSSION 6 BIDS. The Mayor, Mr. Houston, brought up that there appeared to be no change in the (rall.onage of sewage pumped since the leaks were fixed. The City Manager, Mr. Hampton, then brought up the Penetryn Contract and stated that they (Penetryn) would not do any TVing until after the analysis report. Upon authorization of the Commission, they will state how many feet they have to TV. Upon the Commissioners authorization the TV will be done. Preliminary work not to exceed $1,000.00. After discussion, Commissioner Thornton made a Motion that the Agreement be signed and Stipulated that the analysis will not p6Dceed until authorized by the Commission and is not to exceed $1,000.00. Seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Roll was then called and the Vote was three (3) to zero (0). e 30, 1970 (Page 1) �i (2) 5. STREET PAVING After a lengthy discussion, it was recommended that the City Manager, Mr. Hampton, contact the County Commissioner regarding the Authorization for the use of the County's Contract for presentation Monday, July 6, 1970. i1 6. VOTERS LIST The Mayor, Mr. Houston, at the request of the City Clerk, Mr. Clay, brought up the subject of the Voters ' List and asked what should be done in regards to the Voters who did not return their Registration Cards. ® After a lengthy discussion, the Commissioners said that they would come into the City Clerk's Office and go over the Lists with him. 7. CRYPTORIUM After considerable discussion, Commissioner Jackson suggested that this be ® put on the Agenda for Monday, July 6, 1970, and that at that time, when everyone is present, talk it over and decide whether we want it or not. 8. INDUSTRIAL CHARGES - WATER & SEWERAGE Mayor Houston, then brought up the question of the Utility Committee and ® what was being done about a number of businesses that were large water users in regards to the revision of prices. The City Manager, Mr. Hampton, then stated that he has Charts from the various cities regarding industrial and commercial wager and sewage prices. Both Commissioner Jackson and Vice- Mayor Thornton requested that copies be placed in their boxes. O 9 . LIFE GUARDS Mayor Houston raised the question of a raise for the Life Guards that Captain Robbins said was supposed to be in their checks and wasn't.
