SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION HELD ON DECEMBER
8th, 1969, IN THE CITY COMMISSION ROOM, DANIA, FLORIDA

2. BIDS FOR TWO POLICE CARS. The bid was awarded to Bill Kelly
Chevrolet Co. The vote was 3-0 (Mayor Houston, Comm. Thornton,
and Comm. Jackson) since there were only three Commission members
present at the time.
3. BID FOR THE 1/2 TON PICK UP TRUCK was also awarded to Bill Kelley
Chevrolet. This was for a 6 Cyl. 250 CID, 6 1/2 ft. Step Side Pick Up
Truck. Net Price $1996. 90. Comm. Thornton made the Motion to
accept the bid from Bill Kelley Chev. and it was seconded by Comm.
Jackson. The roll was called and the vote was 5-0.
4. BID FOR POLICE SCOOTER was awarded to Kenyon Sales Distributors
for a Westcoaster Police Scooter with a Trade In. Net Price $1499. 00.
The motion was made to accept the Bid by Comm. Thornton and seconded
by Comm. Jackson. The Roll was called and the vote 5-0.
5. The City Attorney brought up a brief discussion concerning City and State
b` Beverage Laws of Minors working in establishments where alcoholic
beverages are sold. He recommended changing the City of Dania's law
or Ordinance to agree with the State Law. At the present time Dania's
does not allow minors to work in such establishments, however the
State Law does allow minors to work in these establishments as long
as they are in no way connected in the serving of such beverages ( or
selling of same). This discussion was brought about in reference to
THE SCENE, N. Fed. Hwy. , Dani a. The Chief was requested to
go out and speak to the owners about the various laws.
6. Comm. Kelly mentioned the fact that some work was being done in
obtaining Insurance Bids. He stated that Walker Insurance Co. was
suppose to give us specifications for the bids. He felt that the City
was presently spending too much money for Insurance coverage . The
City Clerk was asked to call Mr. Ben Symmers of Walker Insurance Co.
and check this out with him.
