AR ® Mayor Houston called the meeting to order at 416 P. M. PRESENT: Mayor — Commissioner Robert E. Houston Commissioners Robert Kelly Boisy Waiters x 0 City Clerk — Auditor E. R. C1a y ABSENT: Commissioner Joseph Thornton Mayor Houston then asked the other Commissioners if they had the 0 tabulation of the bids. The Mayor then read off the high bids as follows: Tony's Trash 1958 Ford Garbage Packer Truck # 33 $45o.00 0 B & J Paint & Body r 1961 Ford Trash Truck # 51 $300.0G 1962 Ford Trash Truck # 40 $46o.o0 Clinton F. Hill 0 1961 Ford Garbage Packer Truck # 34 Mom m Mayor Houston then asked the Commissioners what was their pleasure,, Commissioners Kelly then made a motion to award the Used Equipment to the highest bidders as stated above, this was seconded by Commissioner Waiters. The roll call was 3 to 0. 0 Mayor Houston then brought up the subject of the wrecked Police Car and said he thought they should sell it, he called Robert Grammer to the front and asked him if he did not have a higher bid, and Crammer stated he was offered $225.00 by another person. The man who made the bid was the gentleman who had bought the other wrecked Police Car. After quite a discussion it was decided to hold up on the Police Car. • The Mayor then asked the Commissioners if they had a cop; of the letter from the Attorney on the Marine Life Building. The Mayor stated that some lady had come in yesterday and offered $200.00 a month.and he had told her she could appear at any meeting but that he did not think she %as offering enough. He then stated he had an offer from Florida Ocean Science Assoc. ® there offer previous was $1000.00 a month but when they went back to the board of directors it was refused. Their new proposal does not include the land in back on the Intercoastal Canal. The proposal is $350,00 the first year,, and $500.00 the second year, and $ 750,00 a year for the balance of the twenty year lease. Plus 2% of ® the gross, correction was made and the Mayor stated it was 3% the first year and 2% for the balance of the time. The Mayor then stated that they would be dealing in a million dollars a year or more. The Mayor then stated that there were good substantial people behind this and it was no flyby night operation. The Mayor then stated that they were going to spend $150,000 to get the building in shape and that he hoped the rent would start with the signing of the lease. Mayor Houston then said he could have a representative at the next meeting and Commissioner Kelly stated he would like to sit down with them before they came to the meeting. The Mayor then stated that the other lease had been signed and the deposit of $1000900 had been made, this being the Giant Fun Slide. April 24th, 1969 (l) r; (2) f"}uignt, The Mayor then showed the other tyro Commissioners a letter he had received from the Police Dept and stated that some action would have to be taken on it. Whoever he was referring to he said had only been there ® three weeks. He also referred to a Sally Mae who his son had done some - work for. The Mayor stated she claims she is broke. He futher stated ° that a man like this should not be carrying a pistol and he would be relieved of his duties. Boisy Waiters asked for a copy of the letter and the City Clerk stated he had not even seen the letters, • Commissioner Kelly then questioned the drainage that was being put down on S. E. 6th Street, and the Mayor replied that he had talked to the City Clerk and asked for a purchase order as he wanted to try onedry well in the -', sand and another in muck. He also stated that the cost would be $300.00. He explained further how the dry well on S. E. 6th Street was to be constructed L and it would drain into rock.
