First that the city hire them on a consulting basis, which they would
receive a fee till their work would be done. Or they will work under
Insurance Iianagement which is a contract and there is no fee. This is
strictly a faasabilit contract. They can be hired on a percentage
oasis or at a fie of 5 25.00 per hour. Commissioner Waiters made a Motion

It was also stated that if these men were hired it was the Commissions

City Clerk read a iettar tnat was given to him by Mr. Walxer. The

B RATES ON WATER PASSED ON 1st READING
Mr. Clay was questioned on the water rates that Fort Lauderdale is
charging the Airport. Mr. Clay stated that the Fort Lauderdale rate
os 30¢ per 1000 gallons. Mayor Houston stated we should raise the
rate of 20¢ on over 25,000 gallons to 28¢. City Attorney stated it
0 would be proper to pass on Ordinance to have a straight rate of 28¢ per
1000 gallons over the minimum. Commissioner Kelly made a Motion to
pass on first reading, Commissioner Waiters seconded the Motion.

There was no City Attorneys Report.
PURCHASE OF NEW GARBAGE TRUCK REQUEST BY MAYOR HOUSTON
® Mayor Houston stated that the City is in bad need of a new garbage
truck, After discussion Commissioner Thornhill made a Motion to
advertise for bids on one new 20 yard garbage truck, with bids due on
February 3, 1969, at the regular Commission Meeting. Seconded by Commissioner
Thornton, Roll call was taken.

® COMMISSIONER KELLY'S REPORT
Commissioner Kelly stated he had received a letter from Broome and
Farina on the test wells. The new test well showed 42%. Commissioner Kelly
made a recommendation that the City take the engineets recommendation and have
two wells put on the South end of the water plant property as a temporary
® measure, and have a survey made by the National Geodetic Survey which would
take about a year. It was suggested by Mayor Houston that Mr. Farina come
to the meeting on January 8th to answer some questions. Also that the Geodetic
Survey wait until Wednesday, January 8th.
Commissioner Kelly asked about grassing the swales on S.W. 10th and
i S .W. llth Streets. After discussion the Acting City Manager was asked to look
into having the swales seeded with grass.
It was asked by Commissioner Kelly about the agreement with the
Riverside Laundry regarding the Sanitary Sewers . The City Attorney stated
that the agreement was ready, when the Riverside Laundry agreed to pay $200.00
® per month for the Sanitary Sewers beginning January 1st, 1969, and ending
December 31st, 1969. The monthly rates are payable each and every month, not
later than the loth day of the following month. Also the Laundry shall put in
a flow meter at their own expense. Mayor Houston asked about the flow meter.
Commissioner Kelly brought up the matter about the charges on the local coin
laundries, and asked that they be followed up. Mr. Kelly also said that there
0 ...,as a need for a City Manager to take care of problems like this that come up.
Commissioner Thornton told the Commission they could charge them at this rate
temporarily and let them install the flow meter and then see if the amount is
under charged or over charged. Commissioner Thornton made a Motion to accept
the negineeris recommendation on the basis of $200.00 per month and that the
flos: meter be installed at the laundry es-expense. This agreement is for 1 year
and at the end of the year the contract will be re-negotiated.

Commissioner Kelly stated that Southern Bell Telephone Co, had
dug a man hole around S .W. 2nd Avenue and 8th Street and said the
finishing of the job was very bad. Mayor Houston stated the company was
;. . told of this and they will have it taken care of later.

Mr. Clay was asked about the new light poles for the parks.
'. Mr. Clay said the seven new poles would be delivered this week and he had confirmation of this.

Commissioner Kelly asked if a letter had been sent to anyone in the County about the water the City will sell to them for the Camp Blanding
area . Mr. Clark was at the meeting and stated the City would sell them the
water.

y A question was raised by Commissioner Kelly about the dismissal
of the Cashier Peggy Kusava. The City Clerk stated the cashier was dis-
missed for shortages and absenteeism.

C014MISSIONER WAITERS? REPORT
Commissioner Waiters asked about the wage earning of Mr. Willie
t':`'' Wise over the other laborers in the Public Works Department. He stated
it wasn't fair to have Mr. Wise hired at $2.25 per hour and make more than
some men who have been there longer. Commissioner Waiters was told that
Mr. Mase had agreed to the hiring of'-this man at the rate of $2.25 per hour.
Commissioner Waiters also asked about the new employee Russ Conn who
is working at the cemetery. He was told Mr. Conn was only working part
time lining up the markers. Commissioner Waiters asked the City Clerk
to see about putting up a brick wall at the West Side Cemetery and the city
removing the chain link fence.
COMMISSIONER THORNHILL'S REPORT
Commissioner Thornhill had no report.
COMMISSIONER THORNTON'S REPORT
Commissioner Thornton stated Vhat for two lots on S.E. 4th St, there
is only one lateral main. A man wants to hook up and was advised that the
Sewer Department would help any way they could.
COMMISSIONER HOUSTON'S REPORT
Commissioner Houston reported that Mr. Bill Hill requested water for his
pasture land in the County. He will connect into the water line used by Fleet
Transport.
Commissioner Thornton made this into a Motion. Seconded by Commissioner
Thornhill. Roll call was taken.

Minutes of the P.egular City Commission Meeting, Dania Florida
Held on January 6 , 1969
A request was made from Chief Parton for a new left turn light going
north at 10th St and N. Federal Hwy. Also a right turn light going south.
The new turn lights will be placed on the botton of the light already there.
The request was discussed and Chief Parton was to get more information from
.LaCroix Electric.Chief Parton stated the cost would be around $ 2,900 .00 .
There being no futher business, the meeting was adjourned .
