1'ayor Kelly called the meeting to order at 11:00 A. M.

The first item of business was brought up by the City Manager ana he
asked the City Attorney to read his letter of resignation which the
City !.ttorney then did. There was then discussion by Goldberg as to
his areement with the Commissioners regarding either his giving 30
dayrs notice or the Commissioners giving him 30 dayrs notice. He
f�•^thcr stated this was done to protect the City so he would not walk
off the job and leave the City in trouble. The City Attorney then asked
Gc1ul rg if he had received his letter that was mailed on friday and
the City Y"inager. said he had. The City Attorney then stated that according
to the Charter his agreement with the City Commissioners run out as of
election day. A motion was made and seconded that the resignation should
be accepted as of this date. A vote was taken and it passed 5 to 0-
Part Time Personnel Director Robert Mace letter of resignation was then
rres�nted the effective date being December 1st, 1968. Commissioner Waiters
made a motion which was seconded by Commissioner Thornton that the letter of
resignation be accepted. Roll Call was taken and Commissioner Marant voted
No all others voted to accept the letter.
The City Attorney then said the next matter of business was to give the
oath to the three newly elected Commissioners. This was done by the City
ittorney before the Citizens of Dania who were present. Commissioner
Thornhill then took the seat vacated by Commissioner Houston who had moved
to the seat vacated by Commissioner Marant.
`ti Vayor Kelly then asked for the election of Mayor. Commissioner Thornton
made a motion to elect Commissioner Houston as Mayor, this was sedonded by
Commissioner Thornhill. The lhyor asked the Clerk to call the roll and the
vote was No by Commissioner Waiters and the others voted Yes. Commissioner
I?ouetcn then changed seats with Comndssioner Kelly and became Mayor of Dania .
F yor Hcuston then asked for nominations for Vice Vayor. Commissioner Kelly
rude a motion to elect Commissioner I1aiters as he had received the most votes
in ti-e -Iection, after some time Coamissioner Waiters seconded the motion.
Rcll call :•ras then taken and Commissioners Thornhill and Thornton with Mayor
• Houston voted no, so the vote was three to two against.
Ceru-issioner Thornhill made a motion to elect Commissioner Thornton, Mayor

1sc:e the second. Roll call vras taken and the vote was unanimous for Commissioner
Thornton being Vice Vayor.

peorlr of Dania in giving her support in being elected Commissioner and stated
she ::oul.d do her best to keep harmony betveen the Commissioners for the benefit
of the Citizens of Dania.
Cornissioner 'gaiters then commented he still would work toward progress for
f the City of Dania.
Co:c.:issioner Kelly then thanked the previous commission for giving him the
oriortunity to serve as Vayor for one year, he commented that he believed
the co:rr:ission did a good job, and that he would work with the new commission
in the future.

t'ayor Houctor then made a statement that this was nothing new to him as he
had boon 1'ayor of Dania six times previously.

i. discussion then followed, Commissioner 7.7diters wanted to know why Petrozelli
on '9alker had been left off. Mayor Houston stated that Petrozelli was being
let go but that Walker would be decided on at the 'next regular meeting.
Commissioner Kelly then made a statement that Petrozelli and Walker were the
® tv,o hardest working department heads. Commissioner Kelly then asked permission
to question the Police Chief which was granted. He asked the Chief regarding
a conversation in the police department the day his father was arrested and
a pamphlet had been passed around the City. He implied the Chief had agreed
but the Chief said he did not remember the conversation.
Corr:-.issioner Thornton then made a motion to accept the appointments and this
was seconded by Commissioner Thornhill. A roll call ras then taken and three
voted for, and Commissioner Kelly and Waiters voted against.
The City Attorney then brought up the subject of check signers for the City,
he stated that the City Clerk must sigh and that as there was no City Manager
he suggested that t:co Commissioners be appointed as check signers. After a
lengthy discussion it nas suggested that as Elaine 'Halls was at the present
tir2 a check, signer she could be left on and one Commissioner named. A motion
cas made <ard seconded that the Mayor should also be a check signer. The Mayor
diss.ueed or. Elaine 7ialls being a check signer as she was on3y a department
hFad, but Commissioner Kelly stated that she had been signing checks in the
past, he also stated that they needed someone in there to watch Houston.
t0 Houston replied that he would not answer now but would tell Kelly later.
Cocriissioner Kelly then, made the motion that the City Clerk, Elaine Walls and
Ca,ror Houston be check signers, this was seconded by Commission Thornton.
Roll call ryas taken and four voted yes with Mayor Houston voting no.

Co-rissioner E then brought up the subject of Department Head increases
rind Whether they were retroactive to Sept 1, 1968 and the Mayor answered yes,
} c then questioned the City Clerk E. R. Clay as he had resigned and the Mayor
ansi-red this did not apply to him. Motion by Commissioner Thornton seconded
by Commissioner Thornhill. Vote was unanimous in favor of motion.
A lady from the audience then asked permission from the Mayor to talk, she was
granted permission and said that she had read in the paper the Mayor Houston
as not hooked up to the sewer system and that people where she works were
questioning her regarding this. The Mayor replied that he knew she worked which

t.h-�t Tayor Kelly had threatened him with a lawsuit, but that he was going to
hock up shortly.
The meeting was adjourned at 11s55 A. M.
