MINUTES OF SPECIAL COMMISSION MEETING DANIA FLORIDA
HELD UN 3 t ,
Meeting called to order by Mayor-Commissioner Kelly, no roll call
was taken but the following Commissioners and City Officials were
present:
® Mayor-Commissioner - Robert Kelly
Commissioners - Robert E. Houston
- Richard Marant
- Joseph Thornton
- Boisy N. Waiters
City Manager - Stanley Goldberg
® City Attorney - Clarke Walden
Chief of Police - Donald Parton
Building Inspector - Hubert Walker
City Clerk-Auditor - E. R. Clay
City Attorney Clarke Walden then read off the following applications
O for renewals of Alcholic Beverage License:
Jack Valentine Country Theatre 4-COP
Jr. Milano's 2-COP
Mama Mia's Italian American Rest 2-COP
Bub's Grocery 2-APS
Capri Lounge 4-COP
O Pirates Inn 4-COP Special
Imperial Bowl 4-COP
The Open Door 4-COP
Commissioner Houston then made a motion seconded by Commissioner
Marant that the applications be approved. Roll Call taken and the vote
O 5 to 0.
City Attorney Walden then brought up the new application for the
Balco Foods, Inc which was tabled on the meeting of Sept 16th, 1968 as
the owner had not obtained permits and had the proper inspections.
Commissioner Houston then made a motion which was seconded by Commissioner
O Marant to approve the new application. Mayor Kelly then asked Building
Inspector Walker as to whether ht had talked to the owner and whether he
would cooperate. Mr Walker stated the owner would not cooperate with him.
He also stated that he thought the owner was having two bar in the place.
A roll call was then taken as follows:
Commissioner Houston - Yes
O Commissioner Marant - No
Commissioner Thornton - Yes
Commissioner Waiters - No
Mayor Kelly - No
City Attorney Walden then brought up the subject of night club
® license and said that he understood that there was a new law being
passed whereby it would be unconstitutional to allow one establishment
to remain open till 4 o'clock and not the others. He said he thought
all holders of night club license should be told they were to close
at 2 A. M. He thought he could get a ruling and bring it before the
Commissioners within two to three weeks.
O Commissioner Marant then asked Mayor Kelly regarding the State Audit
Report. The Mayor stated that he did not believe there was anything
serious enough to demand a reply, and that when the time run out it
would be published in the 14Ewspapers for everyone to read. Commissioner
Houston then stated that there were 17 or 18 items that he would answer
* himself directly to Tallahassee. Commissioner Marant then said he was
speaking for himself and not as a unit. Commissioner Houston said this
was so.
Mayor Kelly adjourned the meeting at 5:35 P. M.
