MINUTES OF SPECIAL COMMISSION MCCTING DANIA FLORIDA

No roll call was taken but the following Commissioners were present
as well as City Officials .

Absent Stanley Goldberg - City Manager
The Special Meeting was called by Mayof-Commissioner Kelly to hear
the recommendation of the Planning and Boning Board regarding Ordinance
# 424 which set up New Zoning Classification known as M 1 A, Restricted
Industrial District. Commissioner Marant made a motion which was Seconded
by Commissioner Waiters that a Public Hearing be held on October 21st,
1968 at 8:15 o'clock. The motion passed unanimously.
The matter of Poll Workers for this years election was then brought
up and the City Clerk read the names of the people who were canvassed and
who had sent in replies. Commissioner Waiters then said he would liketo
change the Clerk and on Inspector at the West Precinct. Commissioner
Waiters and Commissioner Houston got into quite an exchange of words.
Commissioner Houston said the Clerk had worked there for a good many years
and so had the Inspector. Commissioner Waiters said it was time for a
change due to some errors there last year. Commissioner Waiters then
made a motion seconded by Commissioner Marant to make the changes. Roll
Call was taken and Commissioners Houston and Thornton voted against and
the three other Commissionersvoted for so the motion passed.
The names of the Inspectors,Clerk and Deputy were read off in each
of the three precincts and approval was made as follows:

Clarke Walden the City Attorney then read the following renewal3
for Beverage Licenses:

4-COP Joe's Cocktail Bar
A motion was made by Commissioner Houston seconded by Commissioner
Marant that the licenses be approved. The motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Kelly then read a memo that was handed him by the City Clerk
regarding the County wishing permission to install one voting machine
in each precinct to handle the Special Election for Port Commissioner.
The date also being October 8th, 1968. Commissioner Thornton made a
motion seconded by Commissioner Waiters to grant approval. Motion passed
unanimously.
S Commissioner Marant then brought up the subject of City Employees
Politicing. He said he was voicing the warning because he had heard a
City Employee praise two of the 13 candidates who had qualified for the
primaries. He further stated if I hear any City Employee or Department
Head taking part in politics he would introduce a motion to either fire
them or suspend them.
Commissioner Thornton then brought up the subject of the Bond on
Stirling, Inc and read a portion of the letter from the Guardian Under-
writers, Inc stating the bond was still in effect. There was a lengthy
discussion between Commissioner Houston and.Commissioner Waiters as to
why the improvements had not been put in, Commissioner Houston said that
O in five to six years this should have been done long ago. Commissioner
Waiters stated some of the improvements had been completed. The items
discussed were Fence, Paved Alley, sidewalks. A motion was made by
Commissioner Houston and seconded by Commissioner Waiters that a Public
Hearing be scheduled for October 21st, 1968 at 9:00 o'elock. Roll Call
taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Mayor Kelly adjourned the meeting at 8:40 P. M.
