Commissioner Brice made a farewell speech stating his pleasure at
having served as a commissioner.
{;S ® Commissioner Kelly made a motion that the present commission meeting
adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Waiters.

Attorney Walden gave the oath of office of City Commission of '10111a
to both the new candidates, Mr. Houston and Mr. Thornton. The City
Clerk was asked to make a copy of the oath and have the candidates
sign said copies. The new commissioners then took their seats
O alongside the other commissioners.
1st Motion
Nominations were open for Mayor.
e Commissioner Thornton made a motion nominated Robert Houston
for Mayor, seconded by Commissioner Houston.
Voting as follows:
Commissioner Houston Yes
Commissioner Kelly No

Commissioner Waiters No
Mayor Commissioner Marant No
The motion failed.
® Commissioners Waiters made a motion nominated Robert Kelly for Mayor,
seconded by

Commissioner Kelly Yes

Mayor Marant Yes
The motion was passed and former Mayor Marant handed the gabel over
to the new Mayor Robert Kelly.
Commissioner Houston made a motion nominated Commissioner Thornton
for Vice Mayor, seconded by Commissioner Marant.

Commissioner Marant No
Commissioner Thornton Yes
Commissioner Waiters No
Mayor Kelly No
Motion failed.
Commissioner Marant made a motion to nominate Commissioner Waiters

notion passed.
Commissioner Houston made a motion that the appointment of City
ti Manager and some of the other appointments be postponed until a
special meeting of the Commission Wednesday night, November 15,
1967 at 8:00 P. M. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Marant
and carried on unanimous vote.
Commissioner Houston moved that the meeting be adjourned: seconded
rw by Commissioner Marant.
