No.l, said property being located North of Dania
Jai Alai Fronton, East Dania Beach Boulevard,
Dania, Florida. Attorney A.J. Ryan for the
client asked that the Commission have a special
meeting in order that we may rezone the afore-
mentioned property.
Motion was made by Commissioner Kelly and
seconded by Commissioner Waiters to change
the zoning classification.
Objection were called for: Jack Clark made an objection that the
last time this change was before the commission it was tabled
until Condominum Zoning could be considered. The Mayor pointed
out that the Condominium Zoning would have no use for Attorney
Ryan's client as stated in a letter from him. Further development
plans were requested. Harry Hillard of sed change of zoning on
the basis that R-3 is the lowest type g•
• Mr. A.J . Ryan displayed aerial photos before the Commission, and
explained his clients desires.
Mayor Marant asked Mr. Howie Burgess his opinion as a real estate
broker and this answer was that value of the land as to condominium
• or multiple type dwelling; "I think it would be very good" He
felt that the Zoning Board would control the building in this area
even if it were changed to R-3 and it would help build the city.
Commissioner Kelly questioned Mr. Ryan about the possibility of
his client working along with the zoning board if the zoning were
• changed. Mr. Ryan pointed out that at the present time condominiums
buildings are exempt only $5,000.00 per building. Mr. Clark
suggested that Mr. Hillard, a local builder, should sit in with
Mr. Ryan as a planning consultant. Commissioner Kelly felt that
this would be considered as good citizen participation and would
aid in the growth of Dania. Motion passed the second reading.

ATTORNEY REPORT - Mr. Walden had received several phone calls from
H.E. McCombs concerning a car which has been picked up on the junk
removal program. Mr. McCombs claimed to have written the City Manager
about the incident and had also contacted Bill Jones of the police
department. He claimed they had not made a careful a search as they
_ should have to determine the ownership of the car. Mr. Goldberg's
secretary, Mrs. Berry, indicated that the Police Chief and City
Manager were planning to recommend to the Commission that damages
he paid to Mr. McCombs. The police department did receive a complaint
on this vehicle , parked on the wrong side of the road and in the
wrong direction. The vehicle was towed away and of this date was
i parked behind the police department. Mr. McCombs claimed it was first
hauled to the junk yard and dismantled, then after he complained it
was reassembled. Mr. McCombs did not receive a written answer to his
letter and Mr. Walden felt that if it were not settled there was a
possibility of a suit . Sgt. Jones felt that a $100.00 settlement was
a peaceable way out.
