HomeMy WebLinkAbout31161 - MINUTES - City Commission MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING, CITY COMMISSION, CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, HELD SEPTEMBER 29, 1966. The City Commission of the City of Dania, Florida, met in Special Session in the Commission Room at the City Hall. Present were: MAYOR-COMMISSIONER JAMES G. ADAMS COMMISSIONERS GUS S.:'BRICE FRANK SALVINO S. ELLIS YOUNG CARL ZENOBIA CITY ATTORNEY CLARKE WALDEN (ABSENT) CITY MANAGER. STANLEY GOLDBERG CHIEF OF POLICE MONTIE SMITH CITY CLERK MARY THORNHILL The meeting was called to order at 8:30 A.M. by Mayor Adams, for the purpose of approving renewals of Alcoholic Beverage Licenses. City Clerk Thornhill presented the applications as follows: JAXONtS MINIT MARKET DANIA BEACH HOTEL JOHNNY79 STEAK HOUSE IMPERIAL BOWL (BERLO VENDING CO.) A motion was made by Commissioner Young to approve the applica- tions of the Dania Beach Hotel, Johnny's Steak House, Imperial Bowl and Jaxonts Minit Market. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner Salvino, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows: Brice Yes Salvino Yes Young Yes Zenobia Yes Adams Yes City Clerk Thornhill presented two applications that were tabled by the City Commission at a previous meeting as follows: i� THE ALOHA CLUB RIVERSIDE BEER GARDEN (Cedie Bell Mitchell) City Clerk Thornhill advised that the Chief of Police haci denied the application of Riverside Beer Garden at one time. Now Willie Mitchell has put in another application. She talked to City Attorney Walden about it, and he said that inasmuch as the application was not signed by Cedie Bell Mitchell, the person who holds the license, he did not think that it should be issued; but if Willie Mitchell should want a license, he should make application for one himself. She then read a letter from City Attorney Walden to Attorneys Sy Chadroff , 1033 City National Bank cuilding, Miami, Florida, and William F. Hunter, Jr. , 1909 Tyler Street, Hollywood, Florida, a copy of which letter is attached to and :,ade a part of these minutes. City Clerk Thornhill further advised that City Attorney Walden stated he would contact the Chief of Police about the Aloha Club and inform him that the License was not being renewed, so if they were operating it is without a license. Since the Aloha Club license was tabled before. and the application of Cedie Bell Mitchell was denied, there was no action taken on the two applications at this time. -1- City Clerk Thornhill stated that Mary Mann, one of the election cffiuials in the West Precinct advised her that she would be unable to work as she had a full-time job; and she (Mrs. Mann) recommended a woman to replace her by the name of Gretchen Baker who works for the County.
