FLORIDA, HELD SEPTEMBER 26, 1966.
The City Commission of the City of Dania, Florida, met in
Special Session in the Commission Room at the City Hall.
Present were: MAYOR-COMMISSIONER JAMES G. ADAMS
COMMISSIONERS GUS S. BRICE
FRANK SALVINO
S. ELLIS YOUNG
CARL ZENOBIA
CITY ATTORNEY CLARKE WALDEN
CITY MANAGER STANLEY GOLDBERG
CHIEF OF POLICE MONTIE SMITH
CITY CLERK MARY THORNHILL
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by Mayor Adams,
at the request of Commissioners Young and Zenobia. Mayor
Adams then asked for them to state the purpose of the meeting.
Commissioner Young stated that the purpose of the meeting was
to hear charges and any other information pertinent to the
suspension of Officer Richard Lees.
Commissioner Salvino objected on the grounds that the Police
and Fire Committee should have studied this first.
Commissioner Brice stated that this meeting is entirely out of
order because of the fact that the Police Committee has made
no investigation of this before it was brought out here.

Commissioner Salvino stated ti.-t the Public Hearing was supposed
to be held tomorrow night.
A motion was made by Commissioner Brice that this meeting as called
be tabled or postponed until the Police and Fire Committee can
have a meeting with the Police Chief and the person involved and
then bring their findings before the entire Commission. The motion
was seconded by Commissioner Salvino.
Commissioner Zenobia: Before we vote on this, I would like to ask
the party involved if he wants the hearing tonight.
Officer Lees stated that he would like it postponed until tomorrow.
The roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows:
Brice Yes
Salvino Yes
Young
Commissioner Young: I will vote no on that for the simple reason
that he did not state in the motion that the Police and Fire
Committee would immediately start their investigation.
Zenobia
Commissioner '/�enobia: I will have to bow to the.man who is involved.
He says he would not like to go for it today, but I do want to see it
qet out in the public. I will vote Yes

Commissioner Salvino asked how many keys there are to the City Hall.

City Clerk Thornhill replied there is one in the Police Department,
she has one, Mr. Goldberg has one, and perhaps Mr. Lindeman.
Commissioner Salvino: Is it not true that a tape recorder was
missing from City Hall for 'about a week?
City Clerk Thornhill replied that it was missing out of the
office for about a week.
Commissioner Salvino mentioned some dates of recording tapes, and -
asked if it was not true that those tapes were missing out of the
City Hall.
City Clerk Thornhill replied that they were missing.
Commissioner Salvino: How many tapes are missing?
City Clerk Thornhill: I would say about six.
Commissioner Salvino: Is it not true that all the cancelled checks
for the month of June 1965 are missing out of the City Hall:
City Clerk Thornhill: Yes sir.
Commissioner Salvino: Let's charge them locks tomorrow.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned•
