j
City Manager Flatley reported that the City is in a new phase and
that there is the possibility of expanding west of Ravenswood Rd .
6
Commissioner Cook stated that Dania should expand to State Rd . 7
between Stirling Rd . and State Rd . 84 . City Manager Flatley stated
that before this can be done a detailed plan proposing how the City
would service the area would need to be submitted.
Commissioner Cook stated that the enforcement service is already
covered because Dania is under the Broward Sheriffs Office. City
Manager Flatley stated that the Utilities are under the Broward
County Utilities and that the City would be able to work something
out with them. City Manager Flatley further stated that it is in I
the best interest of Dania to expand west to State Road 7 . IE
Commissioner Bertino stated that the people should have the choice
of what they want to do. He suggested that a quick survey be taken
to make sure that those people want to become part of the City of
Dania.
Vice Mayor Mikes stated that the two main considerations are : ( 1 )
representation and ( 2 ) being in the same city as Alandco. He
further stated that the people do not have a preference as to
whether they are annexed by Dania or Hollywood.
Commissioner Bertino stated that the City needs to get statements
from McKenzie and McPherson on what they feel the future holds .
City Manager Flatley stated that he will begin speaking with the
community leaders of the areas that Dania would like to annex.
2 . B.S.O. differential police response .
Major LeBlanc reported on a program which the Sheriff' s Office wants
to institute on July 1st . He stated that this program is already in

In addition , he stated that the Sheriff' s Office anticipates to j
recapture approximately 25% of the Deputies' time spent responding
to calls that do not need a mobile police response . However, if the t
complainant wishes to see a Deputy rather than give the information
over the phone , then a Deputy will be sent on location.
Major LeBlanc reported that the secondary part of the program is
called Directive Patrol . Directive Patrol would permit the district
commander to identify specific areas of the City which need extra
patrol . This would also allow for the Deputies to spend their time
more efficiently.
In response to questions posed by Vice Mayor Mikes , Major LeBlanc
stated that the time required to answer a delayed response call
would vary depending upon the number of calls received at any given
