DANIA CITY COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING
DECEMBER 15, 1988

Mayor McElyea called the meeting to order at 8: 00 p.m. City Attorney
Adler explained that the reason for this Special Meeting, originally
planned as a Workshop, was not to take any action, but rather to allow
public participation in the discussion.
PUBLIC HEARING
1. Discussion regarding proposed changes in the Land Use Plan
designation for certain areas .
Growth Management Director, Laurence Leeds , presented a chronology
of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan review schedule, indicating
transmittal of the Plan to the State on October 25, 1988, after
holding numerous advertised public hearings in accordance with
state law. He described the four study areas on the map and
explained the purpose of this meeting was to receive input from
property owners within the study areas and to discuss additional
Plan changes for possible inclusion during adoption of the Plan in
February or March of 1989 .
Mayor McElyea invited Kurt Ely to speak . Mr. Ely expressed his
displeasure that only those in the study areas received written
notification of this meeting and said he felt the advertisement of
this meeting was inadequate. City Manager Flatley described the
notification methods that were used and said he would send notice
of the next public meeting on this issue to every property owner
in Dania, if the Commission so directs.

Mayor McElyea opened the public hearing . The comments and
suggestions of many citizens were heard and plans and options for
the study areas were discussed at length . The Mayor then closed
the public hearing and this Special Meeting was adjourned . +,
