j WORKSHOP MEETING
AUGUST 1, 1988

Present :
Mayor : Charles McElyea
Vice Mayor : Jean Cook
Commissioners : John Bertino
Howard Hirsch
Anthony Stevens
City Manager: Eugene Jewell
City Clerk : Wanda Mullikin
I . Discussion of proposed 1988-89 budget .
City Manager Jewell received recommendations from the
Commission regarding further changes to the proposed 1988-89
General Fund budget as follows :
i Mayor and Commissioners ' salaries were to be cut by 10%.
Allocations for travel and training were cut to minimum in
j all departments .
The elimination or rearrangement of some Administrative Aide
and/or Administrative Assistant positions was suggested,
depending on Mr . Flatley ' s determination of administrative
positions .
City Manager Jewell was asked to clarify Medical i
�. Administrative Fees and give a breakdown of Health Insurance
figures . , _.
One more Police Sergeant ( the Public Information Officer )
was to be cut . A poll of Commissioners showed 3-2 in favor
of eliminating the VIN Unit, Vice Mayor Cook and
Commissioner Hirsch disagreeing . $8, 600 was to be added
back in to the Police Department budget for radios .

The Captain/Lieutenant position was to be added back in to
the Fire Department budget .
Consideration of the consolidation of Recreation Coordinator
Positions and establishment of a Recreation Department was
also discussed .

Due to the August 5th deadline, a Special Meeting to set the
mill age was scheduled for Wednesday, August 3, 1988, at 9 : 00
a .m .
This Workshop meeting was then adjourned .
