I . Discussion of proposed 1988-89 budget .
Per Commission direction to make further cuts in the
proposed 1988-89 budget, City Manager Jewell presented two
new proposed budgets .
The second primary proposal (which City Manager Jewell
labelled " Packet A" ) included keeping the Police Department,
cut anticipated revenues and expenditures from $9, 187, 817 to
$8, 927, 165 and reduced the proposed millage from 7 .00 to
6.00.

The second alternate proposal , which included the Broward P
Sheriff ' s Office contract, cut anticipated revenues and
expenditures from $8, 659, 949 to $8, 627 , 912 and reduced the i
proposed millage from 6 .00 to 5 . 50 was also presented but not discussed .
During discussion of the second primary proposal ( Packet A ),
City Manager Jewell detailed the recommended changes and
pointed out that it was only 2-112% higher than last year ' s
budget . Some Commissioners felt that a 26 . 6% tax increase
was still unacceptable .
The Commissioners expressed the need for more time to digest
the contents of the budget proposals . City Clerk Mullikin
reminded the Commission of the August 5th deadline to set
the millage .
It was agreed to continue this Workshop meeting on Monday,
August 1st at 9: 00 a .m . Motion passed to adjourn .
