1 . Administer oath to newly elected Commissioners. City Attorney
City Attorney Adler administered the oath of office to the newly
elected Commissioners , Howard Hirsch, Charles McElyea and Chester
A. Byrd .
2 . Election of Mayor and Vice-Mayor by Commission .
Mayor Byrd expressed his appreciation to the citizens of. Dania for
their support.
A motion was made by Commissioner Hirsch, seconded by Commissioner
Cook to elect Vice-Mayor John Bertino as Mayor for the City of
Dania . The motion passed on the following roll call vote :
Commissioner Cook-yes Commissioner Byrd-yes
Commissioner Hirsch-yes Vice-Mayor Bertino-yes

A motion was made by Commissioner Hirsch, seconded by Commissioner
McElyea to nominate Commissioner Chester A. Byrd as Vice-Mayor for
the City of Dania . The motion passed on the following roll call

Commissioner Hirsch-yes Mayor Bertino-yes
Commissioner McElyea-yes
Mayor John Bertino presented his acceptance speech, thanked his
i family for their support , and presented roses to his wife,
Barbara.
Mayor Bertino, Vice-Mayor Byrd and Commissioner Cook expressed
i fondness and respect for Commissioners "Bo" Donly and James Adams ,
a and welcomed Commissioners Charles McElyea and Howard Hirsch.
j Commissioner Hirsch and Commissioner McElyea expressed their
appreciation to the citizens of Dania .
A motion was made by Commissioner Hirsch, seconded by Vice-Mayor
jByrd to adjourn this meeting . The motion passed--pr(animously.
