RESOLUTION N0 . 444
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, EXTENDING
TO RICHARD VERNON MOORE ITS THANKS AND
APPRECIATION FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SER-
VICES RENDERED TO THE PEOPLE OF THE
STATE OF FLORIDA.
WHEREAS , RICHARD VERNON MOORE , a native of Quincy, Florida,
{ has served with distinction as a Classroom Teacher , High School
Principal , College President , and Chancellor ; and
i
WHEREAS , he further served with distinction and honor from
1945 to 1947 as the first Negro State Supervisor of Secondary
Schools for Negroes . In recognition of his outstanding contri-
butions in the field of education, he has been awarded 13
Honorary Doctorate Degrees ; and
WHEREAS , in addition, he also was active in educational,
religious , civic and business organizations such as the Council
of Presidents , Board of Education and Ministry of the United
Methodist Church, Florida Association of Colleges and Universi-
ties , Afro-American Life Insurance Company, Central Florida
United Negro College Fund, Inc. , Florida Council of 100 , Winn-
Dixie Stores , Inc . , Florida Federal Savings and Loan, and many
other such organizations , working to improve the quality of life
in his community, as well as the State of Florida. He is listed
in Who ' s Who in American Education, Who ' s Who in Education in
the South, and Who ' s Who in Methodism; and
WHEREAS , because of his good influence and deep concerns
for the youth of our State , many young men and women have
matured into successful and happy members of our society who
have made substantial contributions to the well-being of their
fellow men; and

WHEREAS , the City Commission of the City of Dania ,
individually and on behalf of the citizens of Dania, desire to
formally recognize this outstanding man and his exemplary life .

NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section I . That the City Commission of the City of
Dania, Florida, does hereby extend its heartfelt thanks and
most sincere appreciation to RICHARD VERNON MOORE , an out-
standing American, who has devoted most of his adult life to
helping the less fortunate find a better way of life.
Section 2. That the said RICHARD VERNON MOORE be furnished
a copy of this Resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 9th day of February, 1982.
