HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1980-378 RESOLUTION # 378 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, ENDORSING PROPOSALS TO REDUCE OFF-SITE CONTAMINATION OF THE BISCAYNE AQUIFER BEING CONSIDERED BY THE BROWARD COUNTY COMMISSION. WHEREAS, it has been determined that probable off-site contamina- tion of the Biscayne Aquifer is occurring; and WHEREAS, the Dania City Commission is endorsing proposals, as listed below, which are to be considered by the Broward County Commission; and WHEREAS, the health and welfare of the citizens of Dania and all Broward County is of great concern to the City Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. The City Commission urges consideration of the follow- ing proposals to reduce off-site contamination: 1. Requiring sludge from septic tanks to be dumped at the Copans Road " site only; 2. Allowing only grease trap sludge to be dumped at the Davie Landfill site; 3. That a County Ordinance be enacted prohibiting waste haulers from mixing grease trap and septic tank sludge; j 4. Prohibiting Dade County haulers from dumping at the Davie Landfill site; 5. Placing a full time attendant at the Davie Landfill site to monitor waste being dumped; 6. Reducing operating hours of the Davie Landfill site; 7. Consider feasibility of underlining all fill sites to eliminate in- trusion of waste materials into the ground water and transfer any materials from any fill site not underlined or leaking fill site to this area. f SECTION 2. The City Commission urges regulations and restrictions which are mandatory for new landfill operations to be enforced upon the Davie Landfill site. I � J J �1r Y• SECTION 3. The City Clerk is directed to forward copies of this Resolution to the Broward County Commission and all municipalities of Broward County. SECTION 4.
