RESOLUTION NO . 281
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONTRACT FOR
THE PURCHASE OF SUPPLIES , SERVICES AND EQUIP-
MENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5 , 000 . 00 FOR
THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF THE MAIN
DISTRIBUTION PUMP AT THE CITY WATER PLANT WITH-
OUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT
FOR BIDS ; AND PROVIDING THAT ALL RESOLUTIONS
OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFL
ICT HEREWITH
BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT;
AND PROVIDING FOR A14 EFFECTIVE DATE .
WHEREAS , the Charter of the City of Dania, Part III , Article 3 ,
Section 4, Subsection (J) authorizes the City Manager to purchase
supplies , equipment and materials for the City government in an
amount up to and including $5 , 000 . 00 without competitive bidding and
without advertisement for bids , if he is authorized to do so in
advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS , the main distribution pump at the City Water Plant has
become inoperative and it is necessarythat said
pump be replaced at
the earliest possible time in order to provide adequate water service
to the City; and
WHEREAS , there is not adequate time to advertise for bids for the
purchase and installation of said replacement pump ; and
WHEREAS , the City Commission has determined that an emergency
exists ; and —
WHEREAS , the City Manager, with the advice of the City Engineers ,
has determined that this emergency situation can be best handled by
contracting with Morton Pump & Supply, 201 Northwest 20th Avenue , Fort
Lauderdale , Florida, for the purchase and installation of a replacement
pump without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1 . That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to enter into a contract with Morton Pump & Supply , 201 Northwest 20th
Avenue , Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for the purchase and installation of

a new main distribution pump at the City Water Plant with the total

expenditure not to exceed the sum of $5 , 000 .00 , without competitive
1 bidding and without advertisement for bids .
Section 2 . That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to pay to said Morton Pump & Supply a sum not to exceed $5 , 000 . 00
a upon the satisfactorily completion of the installation of the said
new main distribution pump at the City Water Plant.
Section 3 . That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent
of such conflict.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED and ADOPTED on this 19th day of September, 1978 .
