RESOLUTION NO. 20

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA,
URGING THE BROWARD COUNTY COMMISSION TO
ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH
BROWARD MUNICIPALITIES PERTAINING TO DIS-
TRIBUTION AND USE OF A FOUR CENT LOCAL OPTION
J GAS TAX; AND PROVIDING THAT ALL RESOLUTIONS
OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
j BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT ;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS , the City Commission of the City of Dania, Florida,
after investigation and study, believes that if a four cent County-
wide gas tax is imposed by the Broward County Commission , it should
! be equitably distributed between the County and the municipalities
in Broward, so that all would mutually benefit and improve trans-
portation resources ; and

WHEREAS , the City Commission recommends and urges the Broward
i
County Commission to enter into a five year Interlocal Agreement
with Broward municipalities , by which agreement the tax revenues
" would be equitably distributed between the County and the munici-
palities ; and i.
WHEREAS , since transportation expenditures for road and j
bridge maintenance and improvements are of great concern to the
i
i
,
County and all Broward cities , the City Commission strongly recom-
mends that such an agreement be executed .
{ NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1 . That the City Commission of the City of Dania ,
IFlorida, urges and recommends to the Broward County Commission that
an Interlocal Agreement be prepared for execution by Broward County

and municipalities located within the County , pertaining to an
equitable distribution of a four cent local option gas tax, subject
i
to the following provisions :
(a) That the agreement exist for a five year
term;
(b) That the revenue from the tax be divided j
between the Cou.ity and the municipalities ,
by which division the County would receive
fifty-five percent (55%) , and the cities
forty-five percent (45% ) ;
(c) That the share distributed to the munici-
palities be divided among them according
to the existing half-cent sales tax dis-
tribution formula;
(d) That the Metropolitan Planning Organization
be authorized by the Agreement to accord
priorities for County use of its share of
the tax, as to eligible transportation
expenditures ; and

(e) That the County maintain the road and bridge
tax levy at its current rate . j
Section 2 . That the office of the City Clerk is hereby
directed to furnish certified copies of this Resolution to each
member of the Broward County Commission .
Section 3 . That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent !
of such conflict .

Section 4 . That this Resolution shall be in force and take j
effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
