RESOLUTION NO. 12
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA,
TO COMMEND LUTHER SPARKMAN FOR HIS OUTSTANDING
PUBLIC SERVICE ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS OF
SOUTH BROWARD COUNTY AND PARTICULARLY TO THE
RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA ; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE .
WHEREAS , LUTHER SPARKMAN, a native Floridian, is a long
time resident of Dania , Florida , having resided here for more than
sixty years ; and

WHEREAS , LUTHER SPARKMAN, graduated from Dania High School
where he excelled academically and was an outstanding athlete ; and
WHEREAS , LUTHER SPARKMAN graduated from the University of
Tampa with a degree in business administration; and

WHEREAS , during World War II he served with distinction as
a gunnery officer in the United States Navy; and
j WHEREAS , following World War II , LUTHER SPARKMAN became
•, j the first City Manager of the City of Dania and directed the change
in city government from a mayor-council form to the presently
existing city commission-city manager form ; and
WHEREAS , since his service as City Manager, he continued to
serve the people of the City of Dania both in civic and govern-
mental affairs. He is presently serving as zoning consultant for
" the City; and
WHEREAS , he has for many years owned and operated a success-
ful real estate brokerage firm known as LUTHER SPARKMAN REALTOR and ,

in that connection, served as President of the South Broward Board
of Realtors ; and

WHEREAS , LUTHER SPARKMAN' S leadership , integrity, extensive

experience and broad knowledge of municipal and civic affairs has
brought substantial benefit to the City of Dania , as well as all
i
j of South Broward County; and
WHEREAS , the City Commission of the City of Dania desires
I
to acknowledge the valuable contributions of LUTHER SPARKMAN and
to commend him for his outstanding service to the City of Dania
� as well as to the South Broward area.

NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
j OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:

Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania
does hereby express its appreciation to LUTHER SPARKMAN on behalf
of the people of the City, as well as the entire South Broward
area, for his many years of public service and as an interested
patriotic citizen active in many areas of civic concern, and also
as a good friend and neighbor.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in force and take
I effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
