HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1990-084 PROPOSED MILLAGE RESOLUTION ( 1990-91) RESOLUTION NO. 84-90 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, AS REQUIRED BY THE CITY CHARTER AND SECTION 200 . 065, FLORIDA STATUTES , APPROVING THE PROPOSED MILLAGE RATE NECESSARY TO BE LEVIED FOR THE, FISCAL YEAR 1.990-91 ; AND PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING WHEN OBJECTIONS THERETO WILL BE HEARD AND QUESTIONS CONCERNING SAME WILL BE ANSWERED; AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFF.CTTVF DATE. WHEREAS , the City Charter of the City of Dania , Florida , requires that the City Commission shall , by Resolution , adopt an annual budget , determine the amount- ol` millage necessary to he levied and publish the budget so adopted , together with a notice stating the time and place where objections thereto will he heard; and WHEREAS , 1.he City Manager of the City of Dania , Florida , has prepared and submitted to the City Commission an annual report covering the operation of the City and has set forth therein an estimate of the expenditures and revenues of the City for the ensuing year, beginning Octoher 1 , 1990, and ending September 30, 1991 , with sufficient copies of such report and estimate holing nn file in the office of t-he City Clerk-Auditor .so that. any interested party may ol,tain copies upon request ; and WHEREAS , the City Manag,•r ha!, pr,,;;,.ii t r.d I n Ill C i t y Commission detailed i_nfnrmalion !;npporting su(:11 estimate, affording the City Comumisslon a ompreh,�nsive understanding 1 RESOLUTTON NO. 84-90 e of the city Covernment for the ensuing period, including expenditures for corresponding items during the last two fiscal years and increase and decrease demands for the ensuing year as compared with corresponding appropriations for the last fiscal year; and WHEREAS , the City Col"Mi6sj-on has met and carefully considered such annual report. and estimate for the ensuing year and has determined and fixed the amount necessary to carry on the government. of the City for the ensiling year and has prepared a tentative budget setting forth the amounts necessary to be raised for the various departments of the City and has appropriated such amount.5 to the various departments of the City considering the applicable funds on hand and the estimated departmental revenues ; and WHEREAS , the City Commission has determined that in order to produce a sufficient sum to fund such tentative budget , it is necessary that a provisional millage of. 5.78 be levied against. ad valorem valuation Of property subject to taxation in the city of Dania ; and WHEREAS, the "rolled back rats_" a:; computed in accordance with the provisions of section 200 . 065 (1 ) , Florida Statutes , is 5 . 647 mills; and WHERFAS, said proposed mill ,'T' is 2_ 35 more than raid "rolled back rate" . NOW , THFREFORE, RE 11' RESOLVED I1Y 'T'HE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CTTY OF DANTA, FLORTDA: 2 RESOLUTION NO. 84-90 J � r Section 1 . THAT the proposed general municipal millage necessary to be levied against: ad valorem valuation of property subject to taxation in the City of Dania to produce a sufficient sum, which , together with departmental revenue , will. be adequate to pay the appropriations made in the tentative budget , are as follows : FOR OPERATING BUDGET: (General Municipal Mi.11age) 5 . 78 Mills FOR DEBT SFRVTCE: 0 .00 Mills FOR VOTED MTLLAGE: 0 . 00 Mills Section 2 . THAT said proposed mill.age rate is 2 . 35% more than the "rolled back rate" as computed in accordance with the provisions of Section 200. 065 (l ) , Florida Statutes. Section 3 . THAT the City Commission of the City of. Dania will meet in the City Commission Room in the City Hall. on Tuesday, September 25 , 1990, at 8 : 00 p.m. for the purpose of adopting the above stated millage rate and answering questions concerning same. The City Manager shall specify the purposes for which ad valorem t.aN revenues are being increased , if any, ov(r the "rolled back rate" . A notice of this public hearing shall be puhlished in strict compliance with the provisions of Section 200 . 065 (2) (d) and Section 200 . 065 ( 3) , Florida Statutes . Sect inn 4 .
