AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA,
CHAPTER 7 THEREOF ENTITLED "BUILDINGS"; BY
ADDING A NEW SECTION 7-3 THEREOF ENTITLED
"DEMOLITION OR REPAIRS OF UNSAFE BUILDINGS ;
PROCEDURE". TO PROVIDE FOR THE PROCEDURE
TO BE FOLLOWED WHERE THE OWNER FAILS TO
COMPLY WITH THE ORDER OF THE UNSAFE STRUC-
TURES AND HOUSING APPEALS BOARD TO REPAIR
OR DEMOLISH THE BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURE.

'I BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF

j DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Dania, Florida, Chapter 7 thereof entitled "Buildings", is hereby
i
amended by adding a new Section 7-3, which said section reads as

I� follows :

"Section 7-3 : DEMOLITION OR REPAIRS OF UNSAFE BUILDINGS ;
PROCEDURE.
a. In the event any person required by
j the Unsafe Structures and Housing Appeal Board to make
�I
repairs and to take necessary action to secure the
building or to demolish the building or structure and
to remove the salvage, contents, and debris and aband-
oned property from the premises, shall fail to do the
I' same, the City may cause to be made such repairs and
I I
to take the necessary action to secure the building
r
or demolition of may cause such demolition of the
j
building or structure and remove the salvage, con-
j' tents, debris and abandoned property and forthwith
charge the cost to said person.
b. Charges for such repairs and the j
i
necessary action to secure the building or demo-
lition of the building or structure and the remov-
al of the salvage, contents, debris and abandoned
q it property from the premises shall be a lien upon such
i

property and whenever a bill for such charges remains
unpaid for sixty
P y (60) days after it has been rendered,
i
the City Clerk-Auditor shall file with the Circuit
I
u
Court for Broward County, Florida, a claim of lien
statement . This claim of lien statement shall con-
tain a legal description of the premises, the expenses
and costs incurred, the date of such expenses and a

notice that the City claims a lien for this amount.
A copy of said claim of lien shall be mailed to the
owner of the property, if address is available.
c . The Building Official shall secure,

either through City employees or through a contractor
making the repairs and taking the necessary action to
'i
secure the building or the cost of demolishing the
j; building or structure and removal of the salvage,
contents and debris and abandoned property from the "
i
premises ."
Section 2 : That all sections or parts of sections of
the Code of it Municipal Ordinances, all ordinances or parts of ord- '
inances and all resolutuon or parts of resolutions, in conflict
s herewith, be and the same are repealed to the extent of such con
flict.
j; Section 3 : That this ordinance shall be in full force
j
and effect immediately upon its 'passage and adoption.
