AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING CERTAIN PROPERTY
AS PUBLIC PARKING LOTS ; PROVIDING FOR THE
i REGULATION OF PUBLIC PARKING LOTS; DESIG-
NATING THE AREAS AND CHARGES TO BE MADE
THEREIN AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR
FAILURE TO PAY SUCH CHARGES.
WHEREAS, there has been demonstrated to the City Commission
j that a need exists for the regulation of public parking lots in

the'City of Dania, Florida,
WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted statistics and
i
!i
financial information warranting the imposition of various charges.
to different categories of users of such public parking lots, and,,
i
j WHEREAS , the City Commission has considered various means
I
of implementation of reasonable parking charges .
i
j NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
. _ THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Dania, Florida is hereby amended by adding an Article to be num-
bered Article III, Sections 28-40, 28-41, 28-42 , 28-43 , 28-44,
which said sections shall read as follows :

"ARTICLE III PUBLIC PARKING LOTS

Section 28-40. PUBLIC PARKING LOTS .
I
That a parking charge shall be collected by the City of
I Dania from the operator of each motor vehicle parking on public
property in such areas as are designated public parking lots by
i
the City Commission.

Section 28-41. REGULATION OF PUBLIC PARKING LOTS.
That the City Manager shall post signs advising of the
j! public parking charges, collect the parking charges, and make
l
reasonable regulations providing for the manner of collection of

such charges and for the regulation of the parking in such pub-
. .
a 1 lie parking lots, including providing for exemptions from such

parking charge where required by Contract between the City of

Dania and other parties .

! s Section 28-42 . DESIGNATED AREAS.
i
That the following area is designated a public parking
lot :
(a) All paved area suitable for parking lying East
1 of the Intracoastal Waterway in the City of Dania, Florida, be-
1
itween the hours of 8 :00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.
Section 28-43 . CHARGES
That the following parking charges shall be collected :
(a) In the area set forth in Section 42 (a) above the
li charge shall be twenty-five cents (25¢) per passenger of each
i parking motor vehicle not to exceed a charge of one dollar ($1.00)
i per motor vehicle; residents of the City of Dania may obtain an
annual permit sticker for a motor vehicle in their possession in
li
ilieu of the above parking charge for the fee of two dollars ($2.00)

11 per motor vehicle; non-residents of the age of sixty-two (62)
years or older may obtain an annual permit sticker for a motor
ii vehicle in their possession in lieu of the above charge for the
I
fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00) per motor vehicle.

Section 28-44. FAILURE TO PAY - PENALTY
Any person parking a motor vehicle in a designated area
i posted as a public parking lot who is found guilty of failing to
I! pay the parking charge after having been requested to pay the
i !I
'i parking charge by a representative of the City of Dania, shall,
i
upon conviction, be punished by a fine not to exceed Fifty Dollars
I
l ($50.00) or by imprisonment not to exceed five (5) days, or by

both such fine and imprisonment .
Section 2 : That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in

conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the ex-
