AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
543 OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, ADOPTED ON j
j FINAL READING ON AUGUST 4, 1969,
WITH THE PURPOSE OF THE AMENDMENT
BEING THAT OF CHANGING THE BENEFIT
FORMULA UNDER THE TERMS AND CONDI-
TIONS STATED HEREIN; AND PROVIDING
THAT ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE RE-
PEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT;
AND PROVIDING THAT BY UNANIMOUS CON-
SENT OF ALL COMMISSIONERS PRESENT FOR
THE INTRODUCTION OF THE ORDINANCE AND
THE READING OF THE ORDINANCE ON FIRST
READING, ON SECOND READING AND ON
THIRD READING AT THE MEETING OF THE
J CITY COMMISSION HELD ON NOVEMBER 17, f 1969; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania,
- Florida, adopted ordinance no. 543 on August 4, 1969, for the
purpose of establishing a pension and retirement plan for
i
firemen of the City of Dania, Florida; and
I
WHEREAS, it has been suggested by the persons who
i
have advised the city that a certain amendment should be made;
and
i
WHEREAS, the City Commission wants to accept said
suggestion,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: j

Section 1. - That Section 5 .1 of the ordinance no.
I
543, adopted on final reading on August 4, 1969, be and the same
I
ii is hereby amended to read, after amendment, as follows: '

"Section 5 .1 Retirement
i
(1) (b) The amount of monthly retirement
income payable to a Fireman who
retires on or after his NORMAL
� retirement date shall be an amount
equal to 31% of the first $400.00
Of monthly earnings plus 45% of
monthly earnings in excess of
$400.00, provided he has at least
15 years of service, proportionately
reduced for less than 15 years plus
1% of total monthly earnings for
each year over 15 years, but not
j less than 1.67% of monthly earnings
times years of credited service. j

1 Section 2 .
I - That except as amended herein, said �
ordinance no. 543 is hereby ratified and confirmed and shall
remain in full force and effect.
Section 3 . - That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
Section 4. - By unanimous consent of all commissioners
present, this ordinance has been introduced, read the first time,

read by title only the second time and the third time and passed I
i

on the first reading, second reading and third reading at the
meeting of the City Commission held on November 17, 1969.

Section 5.
- That this ordinance shall be in force
and take effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption.
