rlN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE PAVING
OF DRAINAGE SWALES WITHIN THE PUBLIC
RIGHT-OF-WAY: AND PROVIDING FOR S'I'AN-
DARDS AND REGULATIONS; AND REPEALING
ALL ORDINY-iNCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING
THAT THIS ORDINJ�NCE SHALL BE IN FORCE
I AND TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY UPON ITS
PASSAGE AND ADOPTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF DAN.iA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. - 'That with r,..:=pect to the paving, miprov_ment and u.;u
of drainage Swale: within th, pui;lic right-of-way of streets or other public
rights-of-way owned or controlled by City of Dania, Florida, t:: : fol.lov�in
standards and re,ul.ations are h�-reby a�;opt. .ci:
(1.) The area immediately adjacent to the paved road
surface extending to the right-of-way line or to
the edge of the sidewalk is primarily intended for
the drainage of the paved roadway by percolation
of the water through the natural sand soil and such
area is not intended for parking vehicles. It may
not be paved with any type of impervious paving or
any type of lime rock or stabilizing materials, ex-
cept as follows:
(a) Residential Areas

Paved driveways for access to abutting
property. In no event shall this access
j drive or vehicular stopping area exceed
j 80 per cent pf the frontage of the abutting
lot; except where positive or dry well drainage is

Maintenance of such suh.M,face drains
must be performed by the owner of the
abutting property. Prior to application of
permit, the owner or owners of the abutting
i properties shall submit a proposed plan or
sketch, including details of con.'.tructiori,
to the building inspector;
(z) Drainage of paved areas on private property shall not
drain into the public right-of-way;
O Sodding of the Swale area and right-of-way is encour-
aged and perr_litted up to thy: -,dg of the paved road-
ways;
(4) Swale areas shall be constructed to conform wlih the
attached sketch;
(b) Driveways or parking areas constructed of concrete

(6) The certain diagram entitled "Swale urea.- for Residen-
tial & Commercial Frontage" which is attached to flee
regulations of the Engineering Department and which
wer,, approved Decelrlb�r 8, 1959, ,. attached h :reto
and made a part hereof by r-ference and shall apply
in City of Dania, Florida.
(7) No rock other than washed 3/4 rock shall be a.-ed unless
paved over.
(8) All work done in the .-wale ar-" shall be done at the
owner's risk, if the city has to remove sarn: , there will be no
recourse.
i Section 2. - That all ordinances or parts of ordinanc,�s in conflict

Section 3. - That this ordinance :;hall be in force and take effect
immediately ,pon its final passage and adoption.

the public right of way.
4. If your driveway, parking area or lawn has been constructed in violation of
these specifications, the situation must be corrected immediately or
the County will be obligated to take action in the matter. (r
5. For reinspection call the Broward County Engineering Department,
JAckson 5-1641.
