ORDINANCE NO. 512
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23-9,
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF DANIA,
FLORIDA, CONCERNING THE TAX IMPOSED
ON VARIOUS TYPES OF UTILITIES; AND RE-
PEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO
THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; AND PRO-
VIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE IN
FORCE AND TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY
UPON ITS PASSAGE AND ADOPTION.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF

DANIA, FLORIDA:

Section 1. - That Section 23-9, Code of Ordinances, City of Dania,
Florida, concerning the tax imposed on various types of utilities be and the
i
same is hereby amended so that said Section 23-9 shall read, after the effect +
of the amendment, as follows:
i
Sec. 23-9. Tax imposed; amounts.
The tax hereby levied shall be equal to ten
per cent of the charge upon each and every pur-
chase of electricity, metered or bottled gas (na-
tural, liquefied petroleum gas or manufactured),
i water service, local telephone service and tele-
graph service within the city and shall apply only
to the first fifty dollars of the purchase of any
one utility during any one month. Thereafter,
the tax hereby levied shall be equal to five per
cent of the charge upon each and every purchase
of electricity, metered or bottled gas (natural,
liquefied petroleum gas or manufactured), water
service, local telephone service and telegraph
service within the city, in excess of fifty dollars,
but not greater than one hundred dollars. No
tax shall be levied on the purchase of any one
utility during any one month for amounts in ex-
cess of one hundred dollars. The tax hereby
imposed shall be levied on each utility account
of any consumer or user within the city.

Section 2. - This ordinance shall take effect on the first day of Sep-
tember, 1967, and shall apply to all such purchases made and all bills ren-
dered on and after the first day of September, 1967, except those utilities
i
computing their charges through individual meters as to each purchaser.
jThis ordinance shall take effect as to all such purchases, made where the
i
service is calculated by periodical reading of meters as to each purchaser's
service, on the first meter reading date after September 11 1967.
Section 3. - That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
'i
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
1 Section 4. - That this ordinance shall be in force and effect immedi-
ately upon its final passage and adoption.
