AN ORDINANCE RECOGNIZING CERTIFICATES OF
COMPETENCY ISSUED BY CENTRAL EXAMINING
BOARD AUTHORIZED BY CHAPTER 61-1959,
SPECIAL ACTS OF FLORIDA, 1961, CONCERNING
THE OCCUPATIONS AND BUSINESSES OF GENERAL
CONTRACTORS, PLUMBERS AND PLUMBING CON-
TRACTORS AND ELECTRICIANS AND ELECTRICAL
CONTRACTORS IN CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA; AND
PROVIDING THAT ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE RE-
PEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT;
AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE-
COME EFFECTIVE AS OF ITS PASSAGE AND ADOP-
TION ON THIRD READING; AND PROVIDING BY
UNANIMOUS CONSENT OF ALL COMMISSIONERS
THAT THE ORDINANCE BE PASSED ON SECOND
AND THIRD READING AT THE MEETING HELD ON
DULY 2, 1962.
WHEREAS, by various ordinances adopted previously by City
Commission of City of Dania, Florida, City of Dania, Florida has pro-
vided for examining boards to determine the competency of general con-
tractors, plumbers and electricians to practice their trades in City of
Dania, Florida; and

WHEREAS, since the adoption of such ordinances, Chapter 61-

!, 1959, Special Acts of Florida, 1961, became law during 1961 with such
law providing for the creation of central examining boards in Broward
f County, Florida to regulate the occupations and businesses of general
contractors, plumbers and plumbing contractors and electricians and

electrical contractors and providing for the issuance of a certificate of
i
competency in each of said trades or occupations;and
WHEREAS, City of Dania, Florida has experienced difficulty
i
from time to time during recent years in making appointments to the
examining boards authorized under its ordinances because of the limited
number of persons in City of Dania, Florida engaged in the general con-
tracting, plumbing and electrical business; and

WHEREAS, City of Dania, Florida desires to recognize certifi-
cates of competency issued by the central examining boards of Broward
County, Florida authorized under the aforesaid Chapter 61-1959, S ecial
Acts of Florida, 1961.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMIS- I
SION OF CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. That City of Dania, Florida does hereby recognize
the certificates of competency issued by the central examining boards of
Broward County, Florida under Chapter 61-1959, Special Acts of Florida
1961, as determining whether persons engaged in the occupations and

businesses of general contractors, plumbers and plumbing contractors
and electricians and electrical contractors are qualified to engage in
I
such trades or occupations in City of Dania, Florida.
Section 2. That any person, firm or individual who holds a
certificate of competency issued by the central examining boards of
jBroward County, Florida concerning the occupations and businesses of
general contractors, plumbers and plumbing contractors and electricians
and electrical contractors, as provided for in said Chapter 61-1959,

Special Acts of Florida 1961, be and the same are hereby authorized to
engage in such occupations and businesses in City of Dania, Florida with-
out being required to obtain any further proof of competency from City of

Dania, Florida. i

Section 3. That all ordinances of City of Dania, Florida pro-
i
viding for examining boards to determine the competency of general con-
tractors, plumbers and electricians be and the same are hereby repealed.

j Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
!I herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such con-
flict.

Section 5. That by unanimous consent of all members of the
City Commission of City of Dania, Florida, this ordinance is passed on
second and third reading at the meeting of City Commission of City of
Dania held on July 2, 1962.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in force and take effect
i
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on First Reading this 18th day of June, 1962.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on Second Reading this 2nd day of July, 1962.
