AN ORDINANCE LEVYING AND IMPOSING UPON
ALL INSURERS, NOW OR HEREAFTER ENGAGING
IN OR CARRYING ON THE BUSINESS OF INSURING
PROPERTY AGAINST LOSS OR DAMAGE BY FIRE
A\TD TORNADO AN EXCISE OR LICENSE TAX IN
ADDITION TO ANY TAX NOW LEVIED, OF ONE PER-
CENT (117o) OF THE GROSS AMOUNT OF RECEIPTS
OF ALL PREMIUMS COLLECTED ON FIRE AND
TORNADO INSURANCE POLICIES INSURING PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
DANIA, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING WHEN SAID TAX
SHALL BE DUE AND PAYABLE; AND PROVIDING THAT
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CON-
FLICT HEREWITH BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF
SUCH CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING THAT THE ORDI-
NANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE AS OF ITS
PASSAGE AND ADOPTION ON THIRD READING.
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida, by Chapter
19112, Laws of Florida, 1939, created a Special fund known as the "Fireman's
Relief and Pension Fund" and thereby authorized municipalities falling within
the purview of said act, to levy an additional tax upon certain insurance companies

or other insurors against loss by fire and tornado designated in said act, the
said proceeds from said tax to be used in partial support of said fund, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Dania, Florida, to put
into full force and effect the provisions of said chapter 19112 in said munici-
pality.

{ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMLSSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA,

AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That there is hereby assessed, imposed and levied on

every insurance company, corporation or other insurer now engaging in or
carrying on, or which shall hereafter engage in or carry on the business of
insuring against loss or damage by fire or tomado, as shown by the records of
the Insurance Commissioners of the State of Florida, an excise or license tax
in addition to any license tax or excise tax now levied by the City of Dania, Florida,
which said tax shall be in the amount of one percent (1%) of the gross amount of

I receipts of premiums from policy holders on all premiums collected on fire and

a tornado insurance policies covering property within the corporate limits of the I
City of T)anig� Florida.

Section 2, That the license or excise tax herein levied shall be

due and payable annually on the first day of June of each year hereafter.

Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective as of its

passage and adoption on third reading.
