ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PAVING OF DRIVEWAYS, SIDE-
WALKS, PARKING LOTS, PRIVATE STREETS, AND PRIVATELY
OWNED AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF DANIA; PROVIDING A
PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF; PROVIDING A
SAVING CLAUSE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR
PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That it shall be unlawful for any person to
pave driveways, sidewalks, parking lots, private streets, and other
privately owned areas within the City of Dania unless a permit
authorizing such paving is first obtained from the City Manager.
Section 2: The word "person'' as used herein shall be
construed to extend and apply to associations, firms, partnerships,
and bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals,
' Section 3: Before the issuance by the City Manager of
a permit authorizing paving of driveways, sidewalks, parking lots,
private streets, and privately owned areas within the City of Dania,
the applicant for the permit shall submit a drawing of the con-
templated paving, with an indication on the drawing as to the
estimated cost of the paving, to the City Engineer and the applicant
for the permit shall obtain approval of the drawing from the City
Engineer.

Section : The City Engineer shall not approve any
drawing until he establishes thereon grades, width of driveways

and location of safety islands, where appropriate.
Section The City Engineer shall not approve any
drawing of contemplated paving unless the following minimum
standards, where applicable, are complied with: (1) Concrete
sidewalks shall be four (4) inches thick; (2) Drop sidewalks for

driveways shall be six (6) inches thick with a depression of three (3)
inches at the street edge; and (3) Corners at intersections of streets
shall have safety islands with a minimum width of eight (8) feet on
each side of the corner, said width to be measured along the inside

of the sidewalks adjacent to the corner.

Section 6: No permit shall be issued which would allow
paving over existing sidewalks.
Section 7: The charge for each permit shall be Two
Dollars (� 2..00) for the first One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00)
of the cost of the contemplated paving plus One Dollar ($1.00)
for each additional One Thousand Dollars (61,000.00) of the
cost of the contemplated paving.
Section 8: Any person who violates the provisions of this
ordinance, or assists in any violation of this ordinance, shall,
for each and every violation, upon conviction be punished by a fine
not exceeding $500.00, or by imprisonment not exceeding 60 days.,
or by both fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Municipal
Judge,
Section 9: In the event any section, sentence, clause, or
yt phrase of this ordinance be declared or adjudged to be invalid or
unconstitutional, such adjudication shall in no manner affect the
remaining portion hereof which shall remain in full force and effect
as if such invalid or unconstitutional section, sentence, clause, or
phrase had not originally been a part of this ordinance.
Section 10: All ordinances or parts of ordinances, or
resolutions or parts of resolutions , in;conflict herewith be and the
same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 11; This ordinance shall be in force and take
effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
