AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
SECTION 24-5 INCREASING THE RATES AND CHARGES
FOR SEWER SERVICE TO RESIDENTIAL, COMERCIAL,
INDUSTRIAL AND INSTITUTIONAL USERS , AND ESTAB-
LISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a report on the study of sewer rates for the

City of Dania, Florida, has been submitted by Rachlin & Cohen,
Certified Public Accountants indicating the immediate need for
an increase in the sewer division revenues , NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMKISSION OF THE CITY OF
DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances is hereby
amended by deleting in its entirety the present Section 24-5,

RATES AND CHARGES FOR SEWER SERVICE, and substituting therefore
the following :
"Sec . 24-5 . RATES AND CHARGES FOR SEWER SERVICE .
There is hereby established and levied , a schedule of
rates for sanitary sewage disposal service against each and every
person, firm or corporation owning or using any building in the
City or outside the City, inhabited or used by human beings as a
place of residence, business or otherwise, that shall be connected
to , or available for connection to any line of the sanitary sewer
system. Such rates and charges are as follows :
(a) Each residential dwelling unit, including a resi-
dential home, each dwelling unit of any multiple dwelling structure,

and each mobile home, or similar dwelling unit shall pay a minimum

bi-monthly (a two month period) basic charge of $5 .00. For each
thousand gallons of water supplied to said dwelling unit by the
City of Dania an additional charge shall be made of $1. 75 per thousand
gallons of water supplied per bi-monthly period in excess of the
first four thousand gallons, which charge shall not be levied for

water supplied in excess of thirty-six thousand gallons per bi-monthly

per unit . A multiple dwelling structure shall no~_ be charged the
additional charge on a bi-monthly volume exceeding thirty-six
thousand gallons times the number of dwelling units therein .
(b) For all other users not set forth in subparagraph
(a) above, the charge shall be a basic minimum bi-monthly charge
of $5 . 00 for a user connected with the 5/8" water line, $17 . 50 for
a 1" , $43 .60 for a $87 . 50 for a 2" , $202 . 50 for a 3", and $3.50 . 00
for a 4" connection . In addition, there shall be a charge of $1. 75
per thousand gallons of water used in excess of the first four thous-
and gallons of water used per bi-monthly.
(c) The City Manager shall have the right to make adjust-
ments in special cases where it has been determined that large quan-
ities of water supplied did not flow into the sewer system, such as
the filling of a swimming pool or other similar isolated occurence,
but shall not apply to ordinary circumstances as use of water for
lawn sprinkling. In no event shall the basic minimum bi-monthly
charge be reduced or eliminated .
Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances

and all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be
and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict .
Section 3 . That this ordinance shall be in force and
take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. The charges
herein shall be first levied on the first day of the next billing.
