ORDINANCE NO. 29-86
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA REPEALING
SECTIONS 6-32 , 6-33 , 6-33. 1 , 6-34 , 6-35 , 6-37, 6-38
AND 6-39 OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE 1980 CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, AND ENACTING NEW PRO-
VISIONS FOR THE COLLECTION OF PARKING FEES FOR DANIA
BEACH; AND PROVIDING THAT ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES AND ALL RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH
CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA,
FLORIDA:
1 Section 1 , That Sections 6-32 , 6-33 , 6-33 . 1 , 6-34 , 6-35,
6-37, 6-38 and 6-39 of Chapter 6 of the 1980 Code of Ordinances

of the City of Dania , Florida, be and the same are hereby repealed.

Section 2. That new Sections 6-32 and 6-33 be and the same
r are hereby adopted to read as follows :
j "Sec. 6-32 Method of Imposing Charges.

The city commission finds that the only reasonable

way to charge patrons for the use of Dania Beach is by i
the installation of parking meters at all areas of
Dania Beach as designated by the city manager. The €
operation of said parking meters shall be governed
t
by and subject to the provisions of Chapter 25 ,
I i
t Article III , Division 3 . , entitled "Parking Meters" . f
Sec . 6-33 Schedule of Charges.
The city commission hereby sets the following
1 parking fees to be charged the owner or operator of
I
each motor vehicle parking at Dania Beach parking
areas between the hours of 8 : 00 a .m. and 6: 00 p.m.

(a) There shall be a charge of fifty cents I
($0. 50) for each hour or any fraction thereof
i
of parking time.
(b) Any resident of the city shall be exempt from I
i
the payment of charges as set forth in para-
graph (a) hereinabove by obtaining a parking
permit (sticker) from the city and displaying

same as directed by the city. The parking
permits (stickers) shall be issued annually to
correspond with the city' s fiscal year, and a
charge of five dollars ($5 . 00) per year, or any
fraction thereof, plus Florida sales tax, shall

be paid to the city for each such parking permit
iissued. The word "resident" as used herein shall
I
mean a person who lives year round in the city
I
and who submits a Voter' s Registration Card, a
current Florida Driver ' s License or other evi-
dence , satisfactory to the city manager, that
establishes year round residency.
(c) Any veteran of the armed forces of the United
i
j States of America who has been classified as
f disabled by the Veterans Administration shall
I be issued a parking permit (sticker) without
charge upon submission of proof of disability
that is satisfactory to the city manager.
(d) Any motor vehicle parking on Dania Beach
for a period in excess of twelve (12) hours
shall pay a charge of ten dollars ($10. 00)
for each such twelve-hour period or fraction
thereof.
(e) Duplicate parking permits (stickers) will be
issued for lost or stolen parking permits
( stickers) provided that acceptable evidence
of such loss or theft is submitted to the
city manager to establish same. The transfer
of permits shall not be permitted.
(f) Any person who violates the provisions of

jsubsection (a) hereinabove shall be issued
a parking violation citation and be subject
to a fine of ten dollars ($10 . 00) for each
such violation. "

Section 3. That except as herein repealed or amended, all � .

other provisions of Chapter 6 of the 1980 Code of Ordinances of
the City of Dania , Florida , shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 4 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances and
all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be

and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict .

j Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in force and take
effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption.

PASSED and ADOPTED on Second and Final Reading on the 22nd
