FEBRUARY 27 , 1991

A motion was made by Commissioner Grace, seconded Y
j, Commissioner Bertino to approve the use of 30" PVC pipe for
the drainage ditch parallel to SE 3 Place requested by
Gerald Smilen.

2, Appointment to the Dania Housing Authority to replace
Sarah Spates. (Mayor McElyea)
I, Mayor McElyea submitted his appointment to the Dania Housing
Authority to replace Sarah Spates to be Annette Stone, 257
SW 7 Street, Dania, Florida. Mayor McElyea mentioned that
this replacement is necessary due to the fact that Sarah
Spates was declared an ineligible recipient of the Housing
Authority Program.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bertino,

Commissioner Grace to accept the appointment
McElyea of Annette Stone to the Dania Housing Authority to
replace Sarah Spates .
Mayor McElyea commented on the difficulty over the past year
regarding his several appointments made to the Housing
Authority and the Housing Authority' s refusal to accept the
appointments made even though these appointments have been
upheld in the Appellate Court in Palm Beach.
Commissioner Cook stated that in the event that Sarah Spates
were allowed to serve on the Housing Authority that she be
allowed back on the Board.
The motion passed on the following roll call vote:

THIS MEETING ADJOURNED AFTER ITEM 2
ITEM 3 WAS HEARD AFTER THE ROLL CALL
3. Landscape amendment to the Dania Beach Phase I request
for bid.
As recommended by Mr. Hill , City Manager Flatley mentioned
the need to change the specifications for the Green Malayan
and Maypan Palm trees at the beach to allow at least six
feet of clear bark.
Vice Mayor Mikes requested that the Green Malayan and Maypan
Palm trees be certified due to the fact that they look so
much alike and since the City is obtaining a mixture, it is
important that the right trees are placed in the proper
growing area.
A motion was made by Commissioner Cook, seconded by
Commissioner Grace to approve the amendment to the Landscape
specifications for Dania Beach Phase I request for bid.
The motion passed on the following roll call vote:
