A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA,
OPPOSING THE ON-SITE INCINERATION OF
CONTAMINATED SOIL AT THE LINDSLEY LUMBER SITE
PAS ROTECTOONSED BY AGENCY. THE
HAND UPROVIDINGRO NTFORAN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania, Florida is
concerned about possible severe air pollution that might result
from the on-premises incineration of contaminated soil at the
l;
Lindsley Lumber Site (Lonestar) located in the City; and
WHEREAS, said site is adjacent to a residential area; and
WHEREAS, no acceptable data exists that conclusively shows
f that health threatening pollution will not result from such
incineration; and
w WHEREAS, the transporting of said contaminated soil for
incineration or other cleansing processes in areas far removed
from residential areas is a doable alternative.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
iCITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section That the City Commission of the City of Dania,
Florida, does hereby express its strong opposition to the onsite
incineration of the contaminated soil located within the Lindsley
Lumber (Lonestar) property in the City of Dania.
Section 2 . That the City Commission hereby requests that
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency take all steps necessary
to cause said contaminated soil to be transported from the subject
site to an area far removed from any residential areas so that

said soil can be de-contaminated without the possibility of a
health hazard to the public.
Section 3. That a copy of this resolution shall be
furnished to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Froward
County Office of Natural Resource Protection (ONRP) and to such
other parties as may be directed by the city manager.
Section 4 . That this resolution shall be in force and take
effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.

FLORIDA, APPROVING THE FIVE PROGRAMS
OUTLINED IN LETTER DATED AUGUST 21 , 1991,
FROM CAPT. THOMAS CARNEY, BSO COMMANDER,
DISTRICT IX - DANIA; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the five programs outlined in letter dated
August 21, 1991, from Capt. Thomas Carney, BSO Commander, District

Dear Bob:
The following programs were discussed at the workshop meeting on
August 20th, 1991. Please advise me at your earliest convenience

of the decisions of the commission concerning these programs :
i PROGRAM #1 Closing of Dania City Hall at 10 :30PM - 6:30AM.
Two (2) CSA' s will be trained for accident
investigation/crime scene processing and
community activities .

PROGRAM #2 Use of the Broward Sheriff 's Office Mounted
k] Patrol Unit within the City of Dania on a
- sporadic basis .
PROGRAM #3 The Broward Sheriff ' s Office "Annual Feeding
of the Poor" scheduled to be held at Collins
Elementary School on December 7th, 1991 .
PROGRAM #4 Expansion of the "Feeding of the Poor Program" ,
utilizing a vehicle to deliver hot meals to the
disadvantaged within the City of Dania.

PROGRAM #5 Creation of a "Safe House Program" . Focus of
program is to establish a network of safe
houses and businesses for children in trouble.
