HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1991-031 Y/ 9 RESOLUTION NO. 31-91 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, URGING THE GOVERNOR AND THE STATE LEGISLATORS TO SUPPORT FULL FUNDING FOR THE FLORIDA INSTITUTE OF GOVERNMENT. WHEREAS, the Florida Institute of Government conducts an annual FACC Institute/FGFOA Seminar to provide continuing education in the form of the Florida Association of City Clerks Certification Institute and the Florida Government Finance Officers Association Career Development Seminar within the State �. of Florida; and WHEREAS, the Florida Institute of Government provides many f additional education benefits for elected and appointed officials t J and public service employees ; and � I ii WHEREAS, the FACC, FGFOA, Institute of Government and the Florida League of Cities work together to create an environment that stimulates professional networking and broadens horizons for i participants taking part in the Joint Institute/Seminars and the Joint Conferences conducted annually; and WHEREAS, the Florida Institute of Government relies on State of Florida funds to continue to provide these needed professional development and certification programs; and WHEREAS, it appears that the funding for the Institute of Government in the coming legislative session is in jeopardy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the Governor and the State Legislators are urged to support full funding for the Institute of Government. Resolution No. 31-91 i 4, ta i Section 2. That the City Clerk is directed to provide o the Governor, the Broward County copies of this resolution t Legislative Delegation, the Chancellor of the Florida Board of Regents, the Florida League of Cities and all Broward County municipalities.
