RESOLUTION NO. 103-91
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF THE DANIA
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, INC. TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
FOR SECTION 202 ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED
HOUSING; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there is a tremendous need for clean, safe and
affordable rental housing for low-income senior citizens and the
handicapped in Dania and Broward County; and

WHEREAS, the Dania Economic Development Corporation is an
advocacy body for the senior citizens in Broward County; and
+ WHEREAS, the Section 202 Program is a direct federal long

term loan to aid in the construction or substantial rehabilitation
.� of rental housing for the elderly and handicapped; and
WHEREAS, in the past several years Dania has not received any
Section 202 funded housing; and
WHEREAS, over 12% of Dania' s population is over sixty-five
years of age; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dania recognizes a crucial need to
provide the opportunity for housing of the elderly and
handicapped; and
WHEREAS, the city of Dania' s Comprehensive Plan Housing
Element recognizes the HUD Section 202 elderly housing program as
one means to meet housing needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1 . That the City Commission of the City of Dania,
Florida, does hereby support the Dania Economic Development
Resolution No. 103 -91

Corporation, Inc. , in obtaining funds from the Department
of Housing and Urban Development's Section 202 Program for the
construction and/or substantial rehabilitation of rental housing
for the city' s elderly and handicapped.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in force and take
effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED and ADOPTED on this 24th day of September 1991.
